Default trade value

i don't want to put this in the trade thread, because it's not about trade proposal, but about the trade value ofour player.
i will not do every player, only the one i think we should/could trade withoutblow our roster.

1. Jose calderon:
positif:
we all knows he is a safe pg, a QB one, but he take care of the ball. and under casey he shows he can be an average defender. he is also a solid scorer as 3rd option.
risk : injury prone and a big contract
note : top 20 pg in the league easy.
trade value: a mid or late first pick + a solid backup Center. or a switch pick for a top 8-12 pg (parker, nash, felton).
an exemple : caldy + davis for jennings + jackson.

2. Davis :
positive: he had showed he can be a rea factor in the good situation. last he was excellent, and a double-double machine. still on rookie scale contract.
note : a 15/10 type of PF who can be a solid backup for anyteam in this league.
trade value : a switch for a sf defender/scorer or a pick. more likely will be in a trade with one of our big contract.
ewemple : davis for batum or Portland first.

3. barbosa :
positif : heis a great go to guy coming of the benc. he can create his own shoot or space the floor for other. a good teammate. expiring contract.
risk: injury
note : still a top 10 6th man.
trade value : in a package
exemple : barbo + davis + 1st 2013 for evans + garcia (sac)

so what is your opinion about their trade value? what can they brings us back ? have you some other player trade value analyse ?

You have one of the better PG's in the league man, so unless you think you're getting a top five guy back in a deal in that position I have no idea why you'd want him gone.

The other two... maybe.

you wouldn't trade Calderon unless you get a top five point guard back?

See, the last couple seasons he's been ranked in the 20's among NBA PG's. After 5 games he's climbed that latter so you can do one of two things. Hope he stays healthy and continues to play this way then trade him in the summer when his trade value will never be this high again. Or go into his final season under contract and pray he has another good season without injury. Ultimately though, it's up to Colangelo to determine if Jose is a part of this teams future after next season when his contract ends or sell high when possible to gain more assets since in all likelyhood Jose won't be here when we hopefully contend for something.

trade Edward Davis

Barbosa is the only guy on the second unit that can get his own shot, especially without Bayless

Plus one!

He may seem out of control but that's because he has to get to the rim on this team.... the rest of them don't. DeRozan should be working with Barbosa exclusively on ball handling drills. Dude is awesome. He gets a raw deal with some fans.

As for Davis for Portland's first? No. You don't trade him for a mid-first. I like the Batum idea or any young player like Paul George or something.

Jose could be a guy that we actually bring back after this deal for something like half his value. It's not a guarantee that we can actually spend all of our capspace on guys we need or want so his contract might not be as much of an anchor as it appears to be.

+1 Carp. Well said.

barbosa is the only 2nd unit guy that can get his own shot because he doesn't let anyone else touch the ball.

That's a slight exaggeration. I see him giving up the ball here and there but really, he's by far our only scorer off the bench, especially with Bayless out and is being told to bring energy and score off the bench so he's doing what he's supposed to. I'll agree that Barbosa doesn't give it up Enough, but he is who he is....a scorer.

Barbosa isn't doing what he's supposed to do. I've seen Anthony Carter in there at critical moments for a reason. When Barbosa has been given a chance in those situations he fails.

Barbosa has helped to minimize the offensive droughts that this team goes through so often. They're finally starting to notice the hot hand but all too often guys try to do too much and not rely on the scorers on this team.

Jose has always been a decent PG, but his defence is and always has been a concern, not to mention if he suffers any type of minor injury he has major setbacks.

Calderon is the perfect PG to pair with Valanciunas.

I do not want him gone. (I also would like to re-sign him cheaper when his contract expires)

A lot of people have said that when other players have come here. It rarely if ever works out.

Why do you think Calderon the perfect PG to play with Valanciunas and not another PG?

There are a lot of PGs in the league who do as much as Calderon and then some.

well.. your rite one actually
the one person I wouldn't trade tho is Calderon..
if anything if we bring in a good pg have Calderon play backup to him..

I see Barbosa and Davis going..
we don't need ed Davis really, specially now that Bargs is a PF, and Amir is a player we already commited too... and is better then Davis

we could always use Davis as trade bait to move up in the draft incase we don't finish with a bad record

barbosa is expiring this year, so will likely be gone next summer, or even at the trade deadline.

do you really want to commit $10 mil to a backup role and have less cap space in teh summer to go after a big name? $20 mil can get you a lot. $10 mil can get you a lot less.

Davis is never getting traded. He has a higher ceiling than Amir and if he goes somewhere else it will be because we couldn't sign him to an extension after his rookie contract.

Jose Calderon is going to retire in a Raptors uniform.

Barbosa is going to stay at least through next year because he's our only proven scorer off of the bench and I think BC and DC want to see how he'll perform once we get Jonas + draft pick.

Even with a higher ceiling, it may be wise to move Ed instead of Amir. Ed will want an extension after next year that would make Amir's contract seem reasonable. We could probably get more for Ed and it would be preferable to get a comparable player at a different position.

barbosa is not under contract next year. are you expecting us to sign him to an extension? say he gets $6 mil (i think it will be more) and we don't amnesty jose. that leaves us with pretty much no cap space to speak of next year. are we good to go if we just add the draft pick and nothing else? maybe re-up bayless too? i certainly do not think so.
