Default Trade up the draft ?

Would you give davis/(name anyone else) and our pick for a chance at beal?

If so where would you put him?

Would you see him bench or put him to starting 3 or switch him and DD ....

DISCUSS!!

Ed and the pick with cash should be enough for Beal while taking back a mediocre contract too.

I'll start the fight!

not saying i wouldn't do it, but not saying i definitely would either. DD + Ed are good players and so will (hopefully) our draft pick for this year. 3 average to above average draft picks for a "franchise" player? Not sure i'd do that. I think "franchise" players are slightly over-rated. Only slightly before people start going crazy at me! You don't HAVE to have one and Davis is not a 100% success. Of the last 10 1st round picks there's probably only 2 or 3 i would trade 3 good players for.

granted we don't know how our pick this year will turn out. I would consider this trade but not a certainty for me.

If you wouldn't trade DD, ED and our pick for AD, you're off your rocker. Every single GM in the NBA would make that deal and never look back.

To address your second point, you wold not give up our pick, DD and ED for Lebron, Dwight, Rose, Irving, Griffin, Yao, or even John Wall?

I'm not sold that it's a must do trade. What if Davis ends up being a Noah-type player? That's not good enough. He's still a raw prospect... he may not pan out for 5 years and by then he'll be ready to leave!

no to wall and irving. Possibly no to griffin. Will say the same as anthony davis, not definitely no to either of them but not definitely yes either.

even if he ONLY turns out to be a Noah, that is still better then what DD, ED or our first round pick will ever turn out. that is a risk i am willing to take. but it won't matter tho. any team that gets the number 1 pick this year would be plain stupid to trade it

i really like noah, but that is a needlessly negative statement AND you're also saying you would give up ALL 3 for a noah type player!!?? silly.

no, that is not what i'm saying. analysts have been raving about anthony davis all year. saying stuff like he has top 20 all time potential and the best pure prospect since lebron james. and your telling me that he could only turn out to be a noah type player. then hell ya i'm risking that.
but none of this matters tho. say we had the number 1 pick and another team came to you with this offer. you wouldn't do it right?

If we offered Davis, Derozan and let's say Marshall for Irving or Griffin or even Wall those teams might break their phones they'd hang up on us so fast.

i probably wouldn't do it becuase i'm invested in the number 1 pick and i'm planning my team around that. It's all about perspective. As the Raptors i wouldn't do it becuase it involves giving up 3 of our last 4 1st round picks who we've invested time in. As the picker of davis i know i'd get criticised for giving him up as well, but secretly i may well feel tempted by being offered 3 nice pieces.

Davis may end up being the best pick since james in which case i'd probably change my mind, but i still believe DD can be a very good player and Ed can improve or be involved in a nice trade for us, ditto our pick this year although that is much more up in the air.

what can i say, often neither team is interested in the deal. I do not like wall at all, irving looks good but i wouldn't give up 3 nice pieces for him. There's so much hype around griffin, he's still a very 1 dimensional player but he probably will end up being an elite player. At this point i wouldn't call any of them a franchise player.

I can understand your hesitancy on Wall, though I'd still do it. Irving is a stud already after one season. Are you referring to Griffin's scoring or rebounding as his one dimension? I can't believe you would honestly decline if the Clippers called today and offered him for that package.

the thing is once you wait for them to actually become franchise players, its basically impossible to acquire them. and also, don't forget the 3 players we're trading are unproven commodities as well and even more so then the player we're willing to trade for

haha, touche. i meant 1 dimensional on offense, i should've made that clear.

but we're talking about doing a deal before they've played in the nba. Obv we knew griffin would be good and we do, pretty much, with davis as well but griffin has proven he can live in the nba and put up good numbers.

my vision for us is the no franchise guy, lots of good young players model. There's no guarantee you can hold onto a franchise guy once you get him. If you haven't given up all your pieces to get him and 1 draft franchise guy or someone who rises up from within leaves at least you still have all the other pieces left.
