With LAL, I'd be looking to get two 1st rd picks and filler.

And POR, I'd only trade for Felton after this year was over. I think Felton would be a great fit here to be honest.
What about ORL? Nelson appealing to you at all? Or anything else that they have (save D12 of course).

I don't see anything out there more valuable to Colangelo than using the amnesty on Jose in the off-season to increase the amount of overspending to get some reluctant "star" to come and play with a bunch of stiffs. Jose is our most valuable trade commodity right now, but he's also one of the highest paid players on the payroll. amnestying him would also allow him to play for any team of his choosing. Mid-level exception to go play in LA. clips lake show, whatever.

I agree to a degree about the amnesty of Jose. It would give us 20Mil in capspace and allow us to sign a couple solid players and maybe make a trade that allows us to take on extra salary. But i would seriously see what deals are out there for Jose.

An expiring (or expirings) + pick, is better than amnesty.

In both scenarios you have cap space this summer. The expiring contract(s) get you the same space. But you might as well try to get a pick, even if it's just a mid 1st rounder. It's better than just kicking him out, in my opinion.

Nelson isn't playing any better than Felton, lately. Similar salaries, too.

I'd want ORL's 2013 draft pick with Nelson

I do.
That's what I meant, we could only trade him when he's expiring. However I would rather trade him now because having his value be solely as an expiring is not better than what we can get from him now as a player who can possible make a contender.

Trading Jose is very difficult, since the Raptors aren't exactly deep at PG.

Whatever the trade is, if Jose is dealt, then a PG has to be acquired very soon afterwards, either by getting a PG back in the deal, by drafting one, or by signing a free agent.

It's hard to see it happening now, unless the Raptors are willing to let Bayless/Carter run the show until the offseason.

You're assuming that he won't be able to play this well next season though (sounds like what you're implying).... why?

If he's playing like this AND he's an expiring it makes him all the more valuable. I suppose it's a risk though... I can see that. Again, all depends on what deals are proposed.

I am because I'm scared he's going to get injured and I see it as an unnecessary risk because were going to need a point guard anyway. Obviously if he continues to play like this into next season we'll get more but that's why I mean trade him now while we can in case something happens, that's my entire point. But your right in saying depends on the deal, I don't want to just give him away but we should start shopping him.

Maybe Eric Bledsoe could be got from the Clippers, but it wouldn't be for Jose...

Bledsoe for Ed/Amir would allow the Raptors to trade Jose for expirings/picks/prospects.

Though, Bledsoe isn't fully healthy yet.

houston gets bargnani + barbosa + J.anderson
SAS gets calderon + martin
toronto gets Parker + Bonner + batum + dragic
Portland gets Morris + 1st NYK 2012 (own by Houston)

2012-13 roster
Parker/dragic/1st toronto 2012
DD/Bayless/2nd toronto 2012
Batum/JJ/Kleiza
ED/Amir/Bonner
JV/Gray/Magz

and our capspace grow by 7M + 8M expiring (bayless, batum and dragic) so i think we can resign them and also being under the capspace next season, just before extension of DD and JJ.

I'd say we get snubbed in that trade, jose plus bargs> parker, dragic, batum imo.

Are you high? As much as i'd hate to part with Bargs right now, i'd drive them to the airport.
