Arrow Toronto Sun: Bosh gave everything he had for six-and-a-half seasons

Quote:

No matter how Bosh tries to spin things, it’s clear he, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James thought seriously about playing together long ago and they likely finalized those plans at the all-star break.

He was not going to be a Raptor next season, so his thinking clearly was why continue to run through walls for the team and put his $100 million-plus South Beach payday at risk?

It’s easy to see why his general manager would have issues with that as well as his recent statements which said he has “seven years to make up for,” but we’re not sure he should become Toronto’s public enemy No. 1 the way Carter and McGrady once were.

Bosh gave everything he had for six-and-a-half seasons before playing the Raptors for half-a-campaign. McGrady played them for an entire year before fleeing as fast as he could.

Carter, fed up with MLSE’s ineptness, petulantly quit, before being banished in exchange for peanuts.

None of them handled their exits well. The first two faced Toronto’s wrath as a consequence. If damning information continues to trickle out, expect Bosh to join them.

I still don't see Bosh's actions being comparable to McGreedy or Wince and I won't boo him. He gave a lot to our team and city and I don't blame him for leaving when he did. I would have been pissed if he didn't resign in 06 for sure but not after 7 seasons of not being able to win.

Isn't anyone else fed up with talking about Bosh? Who cares, really.

from fall, 2009:

Quote:
"I'm not an addition. I'm a centerpiece," Bosh said. "I have to have that confidence in myself, and I want people to know that, because I'm not somebody that helps out. I'm the guy you get like, 'Yo, we're going to win a championship, you're gonna take us there.'

"I want to hold onto that because I think every kid when they dream about playing basketball, they don't dream about being a role player. They dream about being the man. I have that position in Toronto and to give that up and go somewhere else to be an addition would kinda defeat the purpose of my dreams."

Someone who has twitter should just constantly tweet that quote to him, over and over and over. And someone who has a press pass, say the guys at RaptorsHQ, or some other blogger lucky enough, should have the balls to stand up at his first post-game in TO and read that full quote, then ask "What the hell, man?"

Saying that I don't think Chris deserves anyone booing him.
Also think that should have been the case with both T-Mac and Vince.
Think Chris deserves a polite clap period.
Better with the likes of Vince, T-Mac and Turk just stoney silence.

Is anyone comparing him to mcgrady or vince? All the issues I have with him have been his recent comments about hating his time in Toronto. Well guess what, I hated watching the team lose for 7 years as well.

Right now he's going on and on about how bad it was in Toronto. Then the writers of the articles are bashing Toronto Basketball and Bosh is a willing participant in these articles.

Shit like that, I have a problem with.

If Bosh had committed to remaining a centerpiece here he would have to be considered absolutely daft.

In the end he had two ideas competing for fruition. It's pretty obvious that he chose a pretty good idea to go with. And now it is done. And yet it goes on, and on, and on...

Nowhere did he say he hated his time in toronto. He hated the losing. He used a throwaway line, meant to show how motivated he was from here on in. If he had talked in depth about how he was unsatisfied with the players here, or what the GM or coaches did, or anything like that, then I get where you are coming from. But he didn't. His play shows as much. The results overall just sucked - yes for us as well - and there is tons of blame to go around, as well as some shitty luck. This team came close to taking that next step, and they faltered. It happens. And it's entirely reasonable for a player to want to use that as a means of pushing himself forward.

Remember this? - it wasn't Bosh - and we all loved it.

Quote:
“When I got the call from my agent about coming here, it was like a rebirth,” O’Neal said. “Sometimes you lose that love, and sometimes you need something else to get that fire back in you. And knowing what kind of organization and fan base the Toronto Raptors have, it was like a whole new life.”
Bosh could have chosen his words a little better, but a couple obvious cliches are getting misinterpreted by an oversensitive former fanbase that they were never intended for in the first place.

Right now, you seem oversensitive imo. Bosh is the villain right now and if he doesn't stfu it won't get any better. It is what it is no matter what you say.

pfff.

a couple of obvious cliches are exactly what he needed.

"i want to thank the fans of toronto for 7 great years, yada, yada, and i'm looking forward to a new beginning in miami. much love to toronto, yada, yada."

this is the standard quote. no one would have batted an eye. but that's not what he did, and to speak negatively of the franchise that coddled you in your formative nba years is weak.

Where did he speak negatively of the franchise? He wasn't speaking to or about Toronto. He was speaking about how he felt about playing with the Heat to Heat fans. If this is not so, please show me how. He could have considered his former franchise more and given the standard quote. I just don't see where not using the standard quote makes anyone such an enormous villain.

And coddled? I question that term. I can remember where he spoke about Colangelo keeping him informed about decisions that were in play, and he said that he did not want to play a part in them. He said he wanted to allow the GM to do his job and trust him with that, and then go out and do his job without needing to make a bunch of demands. I don't see where he failed to live up to that.

Sorry Jeff. I guess I should just stfu up too, because I fail to see the villainy in this shit. Exactly what is expected of a professional athlete that is going to be lived up to? How many go around fucking everything that moves and being enormous assholes? I've seen guys here throw coaches under the bus, throw teammates under the bus, file lawsuits, bitch about ridiculous shit, tell lies and demand to be traded. Bosh said shit that wasn't entirely glowing about a losing team that he had left behind when he had every right to move on as a free agent. And he said shit that had everything to do with where his mind was at, thinking nothing of the team he left behind. And maybe he should have thought about the Raptors, but if he gives a fuck about being a villain in your eyes, then he's at fault for being the attention craving asshole he's been pegged as being for years.

The guy was basically run out of town. And the good citizens of this town appear to be the ones feeling abused. It's very Toronto.
