Default Toronto Star: The new Bosh out to change opinions

He's so gone at the end of the season.

Quote:
"Every day I turn on the TV and they're talking about guys, especially my draft class, '03 draft class, and this and that," he said. "They keep bringing up all these and I never hear my name, unless I'm like second honourable mention or something like that. I got tired of that.

"I don't even think people know I've made all-star teams or know what I've done in this league."

This is the new – vastly improved – Bosh talking, a guy with more consistent determination, greater bulk and numbers that place him among the very best in the NBA right now.

He takes the floor Friday night seventh in the NBA in scoring, averaging 26.8 points per game, and with 20 points-plus games in 11 of 12 outings. He's second in the league in rebounding, averaging 12.3 per game, including 4.3 offensive rebounds, and he's shooting 50 per cent from the field.

seriously, i find it very troubling that this garbage is what comes out of our "leader".... always so concerned with his personal image and what people think about him...

I find it a bit sickening really...

Wha? Why? Because he wants to be known as a major part of arguably the best draft in NBA history?

What exactly did he say there that was so offensive?

He's right too.... writers were ALWAYS mentioning Wade, Bron, Melo and Ford.... obviously the first 2 deserve their due but I think that Bosh has proved (or is proving right now) that his name belongs up there right along with the big boys.

In his first few years in the league SLAM did a piece on him. Funny thing is the crux of the article was how much he enjoyed flying under the radar in Toronto and not being under the spotlight a la Lebron, DWade, Carmelo.

Things done changed. If his greatest wish is to be under the spotlight he better start producing some wins because playing on a mediocre team in Toronto isn't gonna do that for him.

TO... the thing that i hate about him is that he craves the limelight now. he's been this way for the past few years. Yeah, like Zachus said, remember what Bosh was like when he first came into the league? Everyone talked about how he had such a good head on his shoulders... and yeah - he was a humble, good kid.

Now we have an NBA superstar on our hands who is putting himself ahead of the team. You can argue that that isn't true, but i think it is... it's all about the personal recognition, it's all about the accolades, about how he's seen...

Pardon me if i lack faith in him as the guy leading our team.

He's showing us time and time again that he's only looking out for himself.

I don't find Bosh comments offensive at all.

In Michael Jordan's speech in his induction to the Hall of Fame, he mentioned how he had to find sources to find motivation to push him. Jordan mentioned critics saying that the NBA scoring leader can't win an NBA Title, Byron Russell's taunting, fighting for respect from fellow NBA All-Stars, Pat Riley etc.

If Bosh finds more motivation to get more recognition in his Draft Class, its all good.

I don't get it fancy.... ALL of us have said that we want to see some fire from Bosh... some desire... the willingness to do whatever it takes to win.

He's DOING that. He's been putting the team on his shoulders since late last season! And you want to crucify him for that desire now?

When Bosh came into the league he was a rook.. he was looking to fit in.... but now he's realizing that he really CAN be a great player in this league. As good as most of the guys that he played on Team USA with.

I have no problem with that at all. If being a bit of a dick makes him a better player then by all means be a dick.

I think that you're overreacting though TBH.

I don't question a desire to win. I question his intentions. To me it looks like he's looking out for no.1 only.

I just think at the end of the day, what good are all the personal accolades when your team hasn't done much at all.

I think that Bosh realizes that TEAM success is just as important as individual success. He's said as much for ages now.

I look at it this way... he could have easily bolted 2 years ago when his first contract was up but he stayed on... so I think that you HAVE to give him some credit for that.

To be honest management has just done a piss-poor job of surrounding him with the appropriate talent. Hopefully that changes this season. We'll see.

I liked his response to rebounding a few days ago and then he goes out and gives TMI TMI.

I dunno he ain't a bad player though and he isn't stupid

And although I know that there are some who will paint me as an "irrational Bosh homer" I will say without a doubt that Bosh sometimes puts his foot in it... and can stand to improve some on the defensive end.

But let's be clear here.... trading him and expecting Bargs to lead this team is a recipe for disaster lol... and I think I would have a serious problem rooting for this team if that ever happened.

hint: the other players from the '03 class are winning, and for the most part with inferior teammates ...

Really?

Lebron (who is freak admittedly): has guys who are willing to play D if nothing else.

'Melo: What exactly did he win before Billups got there? He was out in the 1st round every season and wasn't near the player that he is now.

Wade: Teamed up with Shaq in his 2nd year. 'nuff said.

The idea that Bosh has had equivalent teammates is laughable. Will Solomon? Jamario Moon? Really???

Agree with you. If it weren't for Chris carrying us thus far we might be at 2-10 in the win-loss column. I don't care what drives him as long as he wants to be here and cares about winning and leading this team.

If we had a penetrator like Jennings for late game situation buckets we'd be sitting at 9-3 with all the winnable games we let slip away shooting from the perimeter late in games.

Vince Carter for half a season during Bosh's rookie year.

Hedo for 10 games

Jermaine O'Neil for half a season & Shawn Marion for half a seaon. Did I mention a hobbled Calderon for most of the season, Will Solomon & Roko Ukic point guard tandem, and a wing rotation of Kapono, Graham, Moon and Anthony Parker.
