Toronto should consider trading down in the draft !!
It's no secret that the Raptors need help an upgrade at Small Forward and a future Point Guard. UNC Players Harrison Barnes and Kendall Marshall make sense but there's a 50/50 chance that Barnes will be available at 8th (if Toronto doesn't move up by the ping pong balls).
I'm not personally convinced that Marshall is the answer at Point Guard. I actually think that Marquis Teague from Kentucky will be a better fit for the Raptors. Teague is projected to go middle to late in the draft. This idea may get ripped on this board but if the Raptors stay at 8th, and Barnes, Bradley Beal & Michael Kidd Gilchrist are gone by then,Toronto should consider trading down in this draft, which has a lot of talent. I would probably trade down even if Barnes was available at 8th too for more picks or a lower pick and player(s). The best trade mate in this situation is Houston who own the 14th and 16th overall picks. Toronto could then draft Kentucky teammates Marquis Teague & Terrance Jones. Even if they don't want those two players there will still be a slew of prospect available then. Point Guard's Marshall or Damian Lillard may still even be there at 14. Houston desperately needs an upgrade on the wing. Perry Jones III could help them or they could draft Jared Sullinger to play upfront with Luis Scola. They may even get lucky enough to see Barnes still on the board. Jones III, Sullinger & Barnes won't likely be available at 14. •Trade Scenario's (all picks are 2012) To Toronto: Rockets 1st's (14th & 16th) To Houston: Raptors 1st (8th), 2nd (56th) & James Johnson To Toronto: Rockets 1st's (14th & 16th) To Houston: Raptors 1st (8th) & 2nd (37th) To Toronto: Rockets 1st's (14th & 16th) To Houston: Raptors 1st (8th), James Johnson & Gary Forbes To Toronto: Rockets 1st's (14th & 16th) & Courtney Lee To Houston: Raptors 1st (8th), 2nd (37th) & James Johnson or Linas Kleiza To Toronto: Rockets 1st (14th) & Courtney Lee To Houston: Raptors 1st (8th) & 2nd (37th) or Gary Forbes Let me know your thoughts RF members? first trade we'd be giving too much, second trade would be feasible if it was the 56 not the 37, third trade again giving too much, 4th trade feasible and I would consider depending on who's left, fifth trade houston gives too much.
so really, 4th trade, and that's a maybe, but it looks nice. well done. |

I can't really say much about his game but John Calipari gets his players prepared for the NBA Also, Marshall and/or Lillard may still be available at 14 I can only see Phoenix (if they let Nash walk) taking a PG out of the teams ahead of 14th. Alot of mock drafts have New Orleans taking a PG but I don't see it. |

Who does Toronto package with the pick?
Who do they target if they move up? Would that player be worth a pick and another player? If they trade outside, who or what type of player/position do they pursue? I think this will be the best draft since 2008. |

You target Bradley Beal with the third pick. if you trade out you target a starting calibre PG, SG, or SF such as Iguodala, Lowry, Eric Gordon if he decides he wants out. Yes they are worth a pick and a player. I think this draft is deep with role players. |

I had said this in a tread a long time ago, but I'd like to see BC do something that's not seen too often in the NBA -but you see it lots in the other big sports' drafts...Trade down, and then trade down again. All while picking up more assets, and maybe or maybe not drafting in this draft.
If BC is targeting somebody later on in the draft, then I'd like to see him do this. This is even possible with one of the potential trades with Houston. As you could use one pick, and trade the other for a vet and future 1st. |

i'm in favour of traing down and i think the rockets exchanges are pretty realistic. I think it's fairly likely that one of a 14th and 16th pick will turn out to be as good as the 8th pick. But you have he chance of getting 2 good players.

We need to improve the talent on this team. Quality over Quantity. Chose the best player available. If BC is targetting a player that might not be there, then move up. We have a bunch of role players on this team, we need some star players that can play both sides of the ball.
