Toronto In Running For 2010 All-Star Game?

Hmmm ... I didn't even know we were up for consideration. Anyhow, not likely going to happen for 2010 but its good to see that we're at least getting some consideration and hopefully one year soon we'll host the game. :)

Dallas appears to be the front-runner. There has been a proposal to have the game at the new Cowboys' Stadium, which would allow all the Mavericks season ticket-holders to be able to attend.

"Really don't have any idea what our chances are, or what happens [venue-wise] if we do get it in a few years," said Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban.

One word regarding 2010

Olympics.

Not gonna happen then, mabey 2011.

It has nothing to do with the fact that Vancouver has the Olympics - it's due to the fact that the game will be held at the new $1.5 billion stadium - meaning more tickets to be sold = more revenue.

New York wouldn't get it because they hosted it as recently as what? 7-8 years ago?

Charlotte wouldn't sell anything.

So between Dallas and Toronto, this is a slam dunk for David Stern and crew.

This would be a life long dream come true for me. I'll be there before the popcorn vendors.

weren't we in the running for 2008 i think, but then pulled out. if i remember correctly we wanted to build some basketball-related venue first then run again. what happened with that?

Sands, what's up? ;)

If I'm not mistaken I think the host team takes a considerable financial hit, so last time it came up they withdrew their name from consideration.

I'm doing good. Just trying my best to cope with this bullshit called life.

Anyways, I'm pretty certain it wasn't a money issue that we withdrew. I remember the article saying that we've have a go at it again in a few years as we'd have a better chance because of such thing.
