Toronto Raptors mid-season report: the stock watch

Here are a few excerpts:

Quote:

VALUE RISING

Andrea Bargnani – With the way he oscillates regularly between the being best player on the floor and a bumbling big man who won’t rebound and can’t hit a jump shot to save his life, the enigmatic Italian might be the NBA’s most frustrating player. That said, we’ve seen more consistency from Bargnani as he steps out of Chris Bosh’s shadow this season, and if the Raptors have an All-Star calibre player, no question he is it.

Quote:

VALUE FALLING

Linas Kleiza – Hands down the biggest nightly disappointment we’ve seen on the court, Kleiza is getting ample playing time and delivering very little. Or at least he was, until he succumbed to the recent rash injuries that have taken hold of Toronto’s locker room like a bad case of bedbugs.

Quote:

VALUE UNCHANGED

Jose Calderon – First the Raptors nearly sent Calderon packing in the offseason, then forced him to defer to Jarrett Jack as the starting point guard. But since Jack’s startling trade to New Orleans, good old Jose has settled back into his familiar role, and posted familiar numbers, which is why he winds up equal to where he started.

the crux of peja's value was never in his play on the court, it was always his expiring contract and unless he heals up by the deadline i don't believe we can trade him under the CBA.

i don't think injury prevents anyone from being traded as long as the other team waives the physical. i could be wrong... anyone?

you're right... any injured player can be dealt if the receiving team accepts it.

They usually don't if they are looking to use the player.

first off am i the only one surprised that Eye magazine did a piece on the Raptors? Is this something they normally do?

Secondly, i agree with the majority of their list. Not so much with Jose. I think his stock has gone up a fair bit. I'd also say Ed Davis looks better now than i thought he would. And I don't think Barbosa stock is so great by a long shot.
