Default Toronto Raptors and the Art of Mocking, Version 2.0 - Bleacher Report

NBA Draft 2012: Toronto Raptors and the Art of Mocking, Version 2.0 | Bleacher Report

Although it's the Bleacher Report, this is not as much an opinion piece as much as it is a collection of opinions from experts and I found it nice to get an ouside perspective of what others think the Raps need.

I voted in the poll for Brad Beal and in doing so saw that 52% think we should take Barnes.

Interesting nonetheless.

Beal and DeRozan would fit nicely together..... Beal is going to be the steal of this draft.

how is selecting barnes with the 6th a huge mistake? i understand that there's more attractive pieces, but if they're not available, barnes is a pretty freakin good consolation prize.

i think when it comes time for us to pick, the wings available will be the likes of lamb, rivers and barnes. mgk and beal will most likely be off of the board.

Except he's going top 5. Beal is currently my 3rd favourite prospect in the draft (behind the obvious Davis and MKG).

I never knew the steal of the draft could be selected in the top 5

Why can't it? Was Jordan not the steal of his draft? Durant could be seen as a steal at #2.... Wade at 5.... I don't see why you can't have a top 5 pick be the steal of the draft when it's very likely top 5 selections can also be major busts. It's a crapshoot, nothing is guaranteed. There may be good picks later, but not necessarily better. Who knows.

After picking Valanciunas last year @ #5, we heard everywhere that he was the steal of the draft and if it wasn't for the buyout he would have gone #2.

Is it not possible that Beal could end up being the best player from this draft and actually get drafted by Toronto?

first part can happen but not the second. we're going to end up with the 8-10 pick and he won't be available

I like the question about trading Bargnani for Sullinger? I don't think teams would trade their Top 10 pick for Bargnani especially for a deep draft.

i see this being a year of the sleepers, aside from Davis, i think the other most successful players will be PJ3 and Jeremy lamb.

Yeah, we can get proven talent for Bargnani. Getting a project for him would set this franchise back years.

Or we could trade Bargnani for Glen Davis and try to win now.

We aren't sixth, we are seventh (tired for). With the way the tanking is going I wouldn't be surprised if we drop to 8 or 9 and you can always drop 2 below wherever we end up so we could end up with like 10 or 11th overall pick.
