Toronto Raptors 08/09 Roster Set?

With the signing of Calderon, Ukic, and Adams... is this the roster?

PG: Calderon / Ukic
SG: Parker / Adams
SF: Moon / Kapono / Graham
PF: Bosh / Bargnani
C: O'Neal / Jawai / Humphries

Aside from picking up players to fill in the injured list...

Here's my take:
Solid pass first PG combo.
Veteran SG that defends best players in league, makes shot when needed.
Athletic SF; best 3PT Specialist in league waiting to come in.
PF to run offence through; 3PT Big man waiting to come in.
Defensive Center who can be an offensive force; athletic young guys who want to bang the boards.

What do you guys think?

8-Man Rotation will see:

Starting Line up: Calderon/Parker/Moon/Bosh/ONeal
Regular Subs: Kapono, Bargnani, Ukic

Bargnani and Oneil playing 60-70 games are the keys. If Bargnani improves and gives 12PPG/6RPG, and Oneil can play 60-70 games (at 18PPG/9+RPG) we'll have a good season (47wins)

62 wins

Don't forget to add Rasho when Indy buys him out and we resign him for the veteran minimum. ;)

They won't even get 50 wins.

Gurk 07-01-2008 05:02 PM

i think they will get 48-49 wins

the_ raps_analyst 07-01-2008 05:10 PM

if everyone stays healthy 50+ wins

We need at least one more big man, we can't be giving that much time to Jawai and Hump when one of the big 2 gets injured.

maltmonger 07-01-2008 05:36 PM

Aren't we jumping the gun a bit on Jawai? I'd love to think they got a second round steal that can step in and contribute right away, but realistically what are the odds thats gonna happen? I know this is a (somewhat) new regime, but have the Raps ever had a second rounder of their own play meaningful minutes for them? I don't remember one. The guy was playing in the Aussie league last year. No disrespect meant, but I'm guessing the level of competition he was facing on a nightly basis wasn't exactly stellar. Of course, I'd love to see it come about - if he's anything like what his bio leads us to believe he's gonna be fun to watch if he does make it.

MLE (or whats left of it) it for Pietrus??

Gurk 07-01-2008 07:04 PM

yea that'll be good rather than having Hassan be the second option for the 2 position off the bench

Claudius 07-01-2008 07:07 PM

It's a fine roster. For once I think we have a team that has its roles and essentially minutes clearly dictated out. There's no guess work on how many minutes the same player will get. Kapono will see his minutes, Jose won't have to worry and neither will Hump play one game and play well and then not see any minutes for another 3 weeks.

The one thing I like the most is seeing Bargnani off the bench. He could give us a legitimate sixth man production this season and if that's the case we'll all be excited here. I still think we're missing a veteran off the bench right now. That's my concern.

Agreed - count on BC to sign on a Derrick Martin type player who has many years of experience in the league.

Apollo 07-01-2008 07:32 PM

I'm really gonna miss Rasho. I hope he comes back here next off-season.

I think Colangelo is going to pick up a veteran PG with the bi-annual exception(worth nearly $2M per year).

There is also the possibility that he could use the mid level exception or part of it to add another guard or big.

Torontosaurus 07-01-2008 07:35 PM

A good vet off the bench would really help. Maybe someone like Lindsay Hunter..

Apollo 07-01-2008 07:42 PM

I'm thinking Tyron Lue would be a smart pick up. He has loads of playoff experience and a ring to boot. He will come cheap and he would offer the Raptors a change of pace PG off the bench.

how about we get rid of graham
cause his experimenting is done by now
get someone from gstate
sign and trade for m.p or try and get marco belinelli
just throwing my opinion out and yes i know he doesnt have much value

ya i agree with this Graham we could trade for some future draft picks and then we pietrus from GS and he could some off the bench at the SF and SG.

P.S. who is this adams guy i've never heard of him and were is he from. either way im already looking forward to next season
