Post Toronto Ranked #22 out of the 30 NBA Cities

22. Toronto: A great, great city and a Raptors organization that treats players well. But changing coaches, missing the playoffs (or failing in the first round) and nervously waiting for Chris Bosh to stay or go works against it. The monetary challenges -- exchange rate, tax issues -- can be surmounted by hiring a good accountant, but there is an out-of-sight, out-of-mind disadvantage to playing for Canada's lone NBA team. Besides, some players and their cronies aren't wild about navigating customs.

I enjoyed the subtext about about how some players and their friends aren't wild about 'navigating customs'

is this about the city, or the team?
if its city (not to be a homer or anything), we are most definitely in the top 10.

I think it's about the city from an NBA player's perspective. Like, they said the city is great but that there are factors from an NBA perspective that make it less desirable, such as having to cross the border all of the time, dealing with a different currency, and being out of the NBA mainstream in terms of all-star voting, etc.

this ranking is actually pretty ridiculous...
the title is refering to cities, yet LAL and LAC are 20 spots away from each other. LOL.

What I don't understand is that the Clips and Lakers share the same facility yet there's a 20-spot gap between them (due to lack of success on the court by the Clips) yet the Knicks have been abysmal since 2002 and they're #7.
It doesn't really make much sense..and Cleveland is #11. Has anyone been to Cleveland? There's like NOTHING to do there..same goes to Portland. Nice, quiet town, but there's more to do in Oakville/Burlington on any given night than in Portland.

i'm with ya on some of that stuff hoops, but portland also has a million things to do outdoors - skiing, hiking, water activities, all that shit too. it's a beautiful city, and the climate in oregon is fantastic (especially in the south). it's not just about nighlife.

Hoops is on the money.

this is just one of those stupid pointless lists. I mean really... what's the point of this? some people like some cities... some don't, some like outdoorsy stuff, other people like clubbing, etc.

and like my man hoops just broke it down, this list clearly doesn't involve a formula or anything other than something out of the creator's ass.

Ha...that's the first thing that I thought. It doesn't appear as though the criteria were in any way defined.

I was about to say, Portland is a pretty happening place.

Not to mention...

Quote:
Because of strong free speech protections of the Oregon Constitution upheld by the Oregon Supreme Court which specifically found that full nudity and lap dances in strip clubs are protected speech, Portland is widely considered to have more strip clubs per capita than Las Vegas or San Francisco.

I think it's a fair list. As awful an organization as the Clippers are, it's still LA. Donnie Walsh is running the knicks now and d'antoni's coaching them so coupled with the city i think 7's about right. As long as Cleveland has lebron, they'll be a somewhat desired destination. Charlotte's a little high though, and Toronto would obviously be higher if it weren't in Canada.

Sorry 'trane, I don't mean to be on the racist tip, but how many kids that grew up in urban areas are dying to go hiking, skiing or participate in water activities (especially in the winter/spring)?
