Top 20 expiring contracts this season
As listed by Marc Stein on ESPN, here are the top 20 expiring contracts available:
1. Jason Kidd (Dallas Mavericks) Expiring Salary: $21,372,000 2. Allen Iverson (Detroit Pistons) Expiring Salary: $20,840,625 3. Stephon Marbury (New York Knicks) Expiring Salary: $20,840,625 4. Shawn Marion (Miami Heat) Expiring Salary: $17,810,000 5. Mike Bibby (Atlanta Hawks) Expiring Salary: $14,983,603 6. Lamar Odom (Los Angeles Lakers) Expiring Salary: $14,148,596 7. Rasheed Wallace (Detroit Pistons) Expiring Salary: $13,930,000 8. Wally Szczerbiak (Cleveland Cavaliers) Expiring Salary: $13,275,000 9. Raef LaFrentz (Portland Trail Blazers) Expiring Salary: $12,722,500 10. Andre Miller (Philadelphia 76ers) Expiring Salary: $10,333,334 11. Memphis Grizzlies Antoine Walker ($9,052,460) 12. Indiana Pacers Rasho Nesterovic ($8,400,000) 13. New York Knicks Malik Rose ($7,647,500) 14. Houston Rockets Ron Artest ($7,400,000) 15. Cleveland Cavaliers Eric Snow ($7,312,500) 16. Chicago Bulls Drew Gooden ($7,151,183) 17. Indiana Pacers Marquis Daniels ($6,864,200) 18. Oklahoma City Thunder Chris Wilcox ($6,750,000) 19. Sacramento Kings Bobby Jackson ($6,487,888) 20. Chicago Bulls Ben Gordon ($6,404,750) The question today is, can you see the Raptors making a move for any of these players and if so, what impact could they bring to the team. As a Raptors fan, acquiring Ben Gordon would look great with him beside Jose Calderon and allowing us to move Anthony Parker or put him on the wing and move Jason Kapono or Jamario Moon. Any thoughts and comments are always welcome. |

Raps should make a push for Daniels, hes killing it for the Pacers this season. I doubt the Pacers will pickup his $7million team option...but if they dont, Raps should jump on it and have him as their starting SG and move Parker to SF

i suspect with the contracts we are losing this season, we could afford to break the cap, but the question is, will it be enough to get us out of the 1st round? have we figured out if this franchise really wants a title yet. i am not sure that MLSE has a clue how to win in any sport.

What expiring contract do Raps have this season? Joey Graham and Parker? I think Graham will be resign because hes cheap. Parker most likely will leave for Europe, as rumoured. But Raps will still be over the cap, I dont think they can sign Daniels, unless they use the MLE, which Daniels will most likely reject

Did anyone notice the article on the side with Brian Colangelo saying that he's persuing trade options as we speak to upgrade the roster. He says he's a realist and knows that in a few years Bosh is a Free agent and wants to surround him with a condending Team to keep him in Canada!

This shows all the contracts, some are missing from the link above
http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=9165 Anthony Parker, Jorge Garbajosa*, Will Solomon, Jamario Moon, team option on Hassan Adams, qualifying option for Joey Graham, Carlos Delfino. I don't think the Raps owe Delfino any money, wasn't his contract bought out or something? I heard Solomon was signed for two years, is this true? |

Delfino Just had a qualifying offer which the Raptors didn't give him. As for Soloman I'm pretty sure he is on a one year contract.
Lastly, doesn't everyone think Kobe will be an expiring contract? Last I checked he has an opt out which I'm almost certain he will use |

we extended a qualifying offer to delfino to keep his matching rights. if he'd stayed in the nba we would have been given the option to match another teams offer if he'd signed their offer sheet. since he signed with a foreign club, we retained the rights. i believe we have to continue to extend him a qualifying offer every spring/summer to maintain those rights. if we withdraw the qualifying offer, renouncing his rights, the team gets that caphold cash cleared off the books to spend elsewhere.
he doesn't count on the cap/tax in-season. but the qualifying offer takes up potential capspace during the summer. in the espn article jeffb referenced bc is said to be interested in marion and barbosa Quote:

I could see the Raps throwing all available money at someone like Daniels and then use MLE on Parker/Moon or another FA (price ) |

is JO expiring in the summer of 09 or 10 b/c hoopshype says in 2010 that he's done and hoopsworld says that it's a player option.
say JO doesn't choose to use his player option for w/e reason, we can than sign sheed and gordan...because garbo is gone ($4.25 million), AP will be done ($4.55 million), and JO will go (per say) ($21.372 million), that's a little over $30 million in free cap space next season! offer sheed like a three year $45 million dollar contract + ben gordan a 5 year $48 million dollar contract. And than you resign everyone else and we will be way under the cap by a lot and we will be a HUGE contender for the title that year, Bosh will definetly be happy. but than again, a lot of things have to go right for this to happen! in 2010 we have to give Bosh at least a 5 year $106 million contract ![]() |

I think when everything is said and done, I don't think we're gonna be a player in the 2010 FA market. I think Bosh will be signed before then and while teams are clearing cap space to target that one big FA, we'l have our team in place and will just add some parts to round out the team.
