Tony Parker to the Raptors?

Quote:

NEW YORK – The San Antonio Spurs are engaged in discussions about trading point guard Tony Parker(notes) to secure a high pick in Thursday’s draft, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Spurs have talked to teams in the lottery, including the Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings, who hold the fifth and seventh picks, respectively. The Kings are determined to get a frontline point guard, and have also talked with the Denver Nuggets about Raymond Felton(notes).

It’s unclear who the Spurs would prefer to take if they acquired a high lottery pick.

If the Spurs were to trade Parker, George Hill(notes) could become their starting point guard. League sources said Hill also has drawn trade interest from teams willing to give the Spurs a pick near the back end of the lottery.

I don't see the point. He's as old as Calderon and not much better at anything than slashing and being aggressive. He's quick, but are the Raptors not rebuilding? What about Bayless and the pick?

Better scorer, can also give us 7apg and has won multiple championships. He's far better then Calderon.

maybe if we could unload calderone, I'm not big on burying bayless

One part of the question. What about the rest?
What good is he if there's no more Duncan and Manu?

He's a 50% shooter that actually shoots, plus with Derozan and possibly another addition on the wing this offseason he'd be effective. He's better then Calderon by a long shot.

Windex 06-21-2011 10:44 PM

give them Ed and we'll draft TT and get Caron:cookie:

Admiral 06-21-2011 10:45 PM

he's definitely an upgrade at the PG to anyone we have but i don't see his use in the overall picture of future championships
if we had a couple really good players and he was an addition to them to put us over the top then yes, but right now NO

jeffb 06-21-2011 10:50 PM

Parker
Derozan
BUTLER
Davis
Bargnani

He's owed 50 million over the next 4 years - so...

... No thanks! :cookie:

Utah gets- Parker

Raptors get- #3 (Knight)

Spurs get- #5

Obvious more pieces would have to be thrown in, but this could work, no?

+1

plus hes still 29. still got plenty of productive years ahead of him

Northern Neighbour 06-21-2011 10:54 PM

Parker would definitely be an upgrade over Calderon, but Calderon would need to go the other way or to another team to make the deal work. Maybe a three-team trade could be worked out with Sacramento.

LX 06-21-2011 10:58 PM

They talked to the Raptors. I bet that sort of thing happens all the time. And it usually amounts to nothing. There's absolutely no indication of any interest on the part of the Raptors. There is only an indication that that they have a #5 pick.

Who else would the Raps deal to make the deal work? I would assume Calderon to SA? It could work.

Or what about involving Sacramento?

SA gets #8.

Sacramento gets Calderon, Amir Johnson, and #29.

Raptors get Parker.

SA must be targeting Kanter or Valanciunas.

agreed, and at this point in time BC is fully committed to the rebuilding with youth, he won't all of a sudden trade away the pick

That doesn't make sense at all.

Gurk 06-21-2011 11:56 PM

^ +1

How is it possible for the Raps to get the 3rd pick by giving away the 5th :dead:

jrob23 06-21-2011 11:57 PM

if we're gonna start focusing on defense why would we bring in tony parker? lol

BC is smarter than that, title of thread is very misleading
