But would it be worth the draft pick to get a few more wins in a season where the younger players are still looking to develop? You have to look at the bigger picture. Bayless won't play, and I understand that the team can't keep losing but it'd be risking the financial flexibility of the team. Also, does Calderon get shipped out to the Spurs?

It's not so much a matter of if he is better than Calderon, the question is, is our draft pick worth him in the long term if we can't get the type of player we need VIA trading?

i'd rather us get george hill. if we were actually targeting a second lottery pick, i'd love for us to change our direction and go after him.

PArker doesn't seem to be falling apart. Mind you, I don't pay attention to the Spurs much, but from what I know, he's durable.

Mark Recchi just won a cup, he's 43. Maybe Parker has 14 years left in him.

True.

However, Mark Recchi is a little ox who's ability to finish around the net and use his great hockey insitncts prolonged his career once his speed diminished.

If and when Parker's speed begins to diminish (which is his greatest asset), he lacks a consistent outside shot, is too small to post up opposing guards and his descion making is quite suspect at times - things that have made guys like Nash and Kidd effective into their 30's. He also has put a lot of mileage on his body playing for France in the offseason (although he hasn't recently) and playing professionally since he was 17 and has had quite a few bouts of knee tendinitis. I'd pass.
True. To add to your mileage point, his team has gone very deep in the playoffs several times. On at least one occasion, he literally played high level competitive basketball for 22 out of 24 months, as he jumped from the NBA to national team duties, then back to the NBA.

I'll stop watching the Raptors forever if we give up a lottery pick for Tony Parker.

I prefer Bayless > Parker.

We aren't contending for a championship and Bayless came off a great season.. one day Bayless could be better than Parker, you never know.

I heard that the Spurs are insisting Jefferson be included in any deal for Parker.

Some of you guys are melodramatic. As Raptors fans, we've witnessed a lot worse than a hypothetical trade of #5 for Tony Parker.

I prefer Bayless.. he is fast, and more athletic, what is Parker going to do for us, he can't even shoot as good as Calderon

of course I am..
Parker is fast, he can score, but he was never really a good shooter, and he is not known for his amazing passing ability..

don't get me wrong, I am not saying Calderon is better then him, obviously not.. Parker is a NBA Champion, but he does not shoot as well as Jose.. and that's the truth

He shoots over 50%, yes he's not a great 3PT shooter but he knows that and takes high percentage shots, hense the 50FG%.

that's fine, but he was never an assist guy, he can score and break down defense, but we want a pg that can create for other teammates..

that's what I'm saying, his style of play is really no different then Bayless, but in terms of shooting, and penetrating and overall athletesim I would go with Bayless who is like 6 years younger

that is not the truth.... parker is money from midrange, he has a much more consistant jumper than calderon. and he's worked on his three point shooting to the point he shot 35.7% last year to Jose's 36.5%. also, parker can create his own shot but jose gets his looks from pick and rolls

i don't even like parker but to be so bold to claim an opinion as the truth......

I would have like the move 2 years ago...

Giving up our 5th pick for PARKER just isn't worth it IMO
