Obvious more pieces would have to be thrown in, but this could work, no?
What if Bargs was included, and went to San Antonio.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3w7qy7l

SA: Bargs, Amir, #5
Toronto: Okur, Bell, #3
Utah: Tony Parker, TPE, future lottery protected pick from Toronto.

I am a genius.

We have to tank harder next year. And Parker isn't exactly a good locker room guy lol.

I don't know why you put the championships there, those were team championships and he was hardly the main guy on that team. He wouldn't have shit if it wasn't for Duncan the coaching staff. I don't really think he's a better scorer, he just takes more shots. They play 2 different styles, Jose is a pure PG (generally very efficient when he does take shots), Parker is a scoring minded. Neither are any good on D. I don't see the point of the trade, especially considering Parkers contract and age. I'd much rather keep the pick and get Knight/Walker (if we had to go PG) than Parker.

Kings are so screwed, no way Parker would move to that dumpy desert truckstop out in the middle of nowhere. But if Parker is traded, I mean, he's an upgrade at point to like 27 teams in this league.

Because championship experience is great to have. And you call it a TEAM championship but credit one player. It doesn't make any sense to say that ONE player only has a championship only because of another.

but he is owed 12.5 million per until 2013-14. thats ALOT of coin for an older pg on a rebuilding team.

only way i would agree is if we got blair/splitter as well.

parker, blair/splitter in

jose, amir, #5 out

He's only 29. But yeah, it is a lot of money for sure.

In a guard driven league like this I can't believe this is even a discussion. If we can get an allstar calibre PG we get him...period IMO.

You guys are too funny.

Parker are exactly what this team doesn't need.

Huge contract, suspect D and a suspect shot from the outside.

Also love how he's only 29, but Calderon is generally referred to as a geezer for being 29.

Actually I would be fine with multiple senarios, mabey we could flip parker to a third team.

Spurs in:
Barbosa, Kleiza, #5

out
PArker, Splitter

SAS gets the #5, adds a scoring punch off bench at sg/pg spot(expiring), adds some outside shooting at sf/pf spot.

LAL in
Parker, Davis

out:
Bynum, Ebanks

LAL upgrades the pg spot ALOT, adds a nice young bigman to bolster front court.

Parker
Kobe
Artest
Odom/Davis
Gasol
=
Championship IMO

Toronto out:
Barbosa, Kleiza, Ed, #5

in
Bynum, Splitter, Ebanks

Toronto adds bigmen and a defensive swing. would definately need to add some depth at pg/sg and sg/sf with remaining capspace

Jose/Bayless
Demar/Weems?
JJ/EBanks
Bargs/Amir/Dorsey?
Bynum/Splitter/Alabi

He shot 51FG%, 36 3PT% (Better then Bargnani) last season. And 29 is not old. For me a player doesn't start getting old until 32-33. And even then certain players excell into their mid-later 30's. I will say though that Jose at times plays like a geezer.

Have you ever even watched him play jeff or do you just read stats and make assumptions.

He shot 36% on 0.9 3 point shot attempts per game and has never been known as a threat from deep. In fact it's been a weakness his entire career. Most of his made field goals are from in close, hence the high %. He's hardly a better shooter than Bargnani.

I understand that and yes i've watched him play, he shot 51% last season obviously he takes most of those shots 18ft in and can get to the rim. I never said he was an overall better shooter then Bargnani that is a much more volume 3pt shooter, just saying he shot a better percentage last season.

Well Acie. You don't really count age in Pro sports in years all the time do you. Calderon, bless him, is a very old 29, he's falling apart rapidly. It's the only reason he isn't still awesome. PArker doesn't seem to be falling apart. Mind you, I don't pay attention to the Spurs much, but from what I know, he's durable.

Mark Recchi just won a cup, he's 43. Maybe Parker has 14 years left in him.

True enough, but I was just trying to illustrate how lame jeff's arguments can be.

However, Mark Recchi is a little ox who's ability to finish around the net and use his great hockey insitncts prolonged his career once his speed diminished.

If and when Parker's speed begins to diminish (which is his greatest asset), he lacks a consistent outside shot, is too small to post up opposing guards and his descion making is quite suspect at times - things that have made guys like Nash and Kidd effective into their 30's. He also has put a lot of mileage on his body playing for France in the offseason (although he hasn't recently) and playing professionally since he was 17 and has had quite a few bouts of knee tendinitis. I'd pass.

Sure but if he takes a physical and he's sound, what do you do?

Also, a lot of players can develop their shit as they go, fact is, Toronto is shitty, and Parker is a star in this league. This team lost a lot last year, yes the young guys got burn, and yes they learned a lot, but you cannot keep losing, it's bad for culture. Keep in mind, this team didn't get blown out all year, they lost. A major PG upgrade can really help get some wins to reward a young team that got the badge last year. New coach, wins, it's a mindset that can create a momentum that can be very helpful to move this team to the next level they need to move to now.

It's a risk, but a small one.

then again.... oh ya, theres a lock out.

hahah

Maybe? What do I know, but also I see him as a Barbosa kind of guy who will come in and not really provide leadership and will just get the ball and go and get his.
