Tom Anselmi has been appointed president and COO of MLSE

Quote:
Larry Tanenbaum, Chairman of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) announced Tuesday that Tom Anselmi has been appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of MLSE, effective immediately.

"Tomís proven strength in operations has made him a respected leader here at MLSE and across the sports and entertainment industry," said Tanenbaum.

"His passion for our teams and our fans makes Tom the perfect choice as President and COO of this great organization."

In his new role, Anselmi oversees all MLSE operations, and reports in the interim to the MLSE Board through the Chair.

"I'm honoured to be appointed President and COO of one of the premier sports and entertainment organizations in the world," said Anselmi. "The opportunities for MLSE are limitless, and it all starts with a focus on building winning teams, strengthening our relationship with fans, and enhancing our positive impact in the community."

So is this guy going to feed the team some more money or what? That's all I really care about.

I should probably follow that up with a brief explanation. I was being sarcastic.

For those who may not know anything about behind the scenes toronto FC stuff, Anselmi was the team president and basically ran the team to the ground with horrid personel and off field decisions.

This is quite possibly the worst and most undeserved promotion ever. and it has me somewhat concerned about the leafs and raptors. It's funny i don't even give TFC much thought anymore because they have been so fucked up and it seems to actually be getting worse.

First big move by Rogers/Bell and it seems they will go down the same road as the teachers. Funny that Anselmi is leaving TFC not only after he destroyed the on field product but also seems that the well of money TFc is making is running a little dry.

i don't look at it like he's leaving. Seems to me he will have just as much say in their business as he had before. The business side of things is definately struggling. As you well know DVS, the MAJORITY of their core market are enraged and on the verge of leaving after the 6 or whatever years of getting analy raped. Interest is at all time low and the on field product has completely regressed and gone backwards. It's insane. you'd think that someone in his position would get disciplined. He's getting rewarded!

screw a franchise over and get promoted, the MLSE everyone. :cookie: ......... oh well change at the top is good and i dont think Rogers/Bell wouldn't put up with many losing teams for a long period of time like the teachers did. Ratings matter too much now. So im still holding a little optimism for Toronto teams.

For a second, I thought it said Phil Anselmo has been appointed President and COO.

Figured it was too good to be true...

the teams under the MLSE banner won't go anywhere until top-line execs are hired and retained based on how they've performed versus who they know. when will this organization start holding executives accountable? this is shameful.

Yup TFC has been screwed up to JFJ proportions. I read an article showing all the draft picks TFC missed and it was just astounding. Personally I've stopped going to TFC games a while ago. Big reason is I don't think the prices match the quality of play.
