Sam sounds off

Quote:
The Raptors decided not to scout this weekend's Final Four in San Antonio. The next showcase of college talent takes place at the annual Portsmouth Invitational, which begins Wednesday in Portsmouth, Va.
Soul Searching

Quote:
The one saving grace for the Raptors is their schedule. Besides Milwaukee, the pitiful Miami Heat and the Nets, whose flickering playoff hopes should be extinguished by Friday's tip, represent the home portion.

Three wins gives the Raptors a 41-41 season, the sixth seed and a first-round series with the Orlando Magic, one of the few teams Toronto actually matches up against quite nicely.

Wins suddenly a tall order for Raptors

Quote:
Blame the coach. Blame the tactics. Blame the teaching. But if your $13 million all-star can't stick an elbow in a smaller man's eye and score at a game's biggest moments, in a league in which the best player on the floor so often prevails, you've got bigger problems than the contents of the clipboard. You can also understand why Mitchell spent a few post-game moments attempting to convince himself, or maybe the world, that the guy who'd just shut down his best player wasn't giving up five inches or more.

"(Height) has nothing to do with it," snapped Mitchell, putting Hassell to rest.
Hoops analysts should try to put a lid on it

Quote:
Rautins isn't as opinionated or as loud and does provide a lot of insights into the game. In fact, during Saturday's game he explained exactly why the Raptors were losing and why guard T.J. Ford often doesn't think about who's on defence before trying certain plays.

His failing is that he tends to speak in paragraphs and sometimes chapters.

Ouch, Feschuck is having a field day critisizing Sam this morning:

The squad, winners of just six of their past 21, has personnel deficiencies that make defence and rebounding a chronic weakness. And lately their big strength, perimeter shooting, is in a slump.

Read Feschuk's entire article. He seems pretty critical of Smitch if you ask me. Maybe I'm taking alot out of context.

I also forgot to mention, I love this Chris Zelkovich from the Star who's pretty much telling Leo to "Shut the fuck up" in his article this morning.

Zelkovich criticizes everyone, yet there are flaws in his columns from time to time. Pot, meet kettle.

You know if the Raps lose in the first round and Iavrionni is ousted in Memphis in a couple of weeks, it will be the perfect excuse to get rid of Smitch for Colangelo and bring in the guy they wanted in the first place - Iavrionni.

Zelkovich could be the most repetitive columnist out there. Let's see...this week, he'll call Don Cherry a neanderthal, say analysts talk too much, criticize camera angles and then make fun of the NASCAR announcers. Alright dude, we get it. Change it up a bit.
