Stuckey in neutral

Quote:
"We don't sit around looking at a bunch of stats and data and that kind of thing. Playoffs are completely different. You're locking in on one team and everybody knows what each other's going to do. And we have the confidence that no matter who we play, we can win."
Grumpy Sam unloads

Quote:
For instance, when asked about the perennially powerful Pistons, Mitchell replied: "We talk about this all the time. 50 wins, seven years in a row, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. They're a good basketball team."

Playoff fate still rests in error-prone hands

Quote:
"I think that no matter who we play in the playoffs we are just going to have to change the mentality and the focus to the game," said Rasho Nesterovic. "We can't make the same mistakes we've been making in the past 10 to 15 games."

And there's the big problem with all this bravado about turning things around before the post-season starts next weekend. The Raptors have beaten two teams with records better than .500 in their last 20 games; they've stumbled against some of the minnows of the league and, to recall impressive wins at Boston, San Antonio and New Orleans takes a visit deep into the memory banks.
Raptors struggle against backup Pistons squad

Quote:
"It doesn't matter who you're playing, it's how you're playing," Mitchell said before the game. "If we're playing well, we can beat anybody. If you're not playing well, you're not going to beat anybody."
Pearls of wisdom.

Fan says he was bilked in ticket sales scam

Quote:
The seller was looking to dump a pair of tickets in the red section and wanted to sell the personal-seat licences for $20,000 apiece, Tanguay said. There was one hitch: Tanguay said the MLSE employee wanted him to bring $5,000 in cash at the seller's request to cement the deal.

"After I bought the tickets, I looked up the seller's name on Canada411.com and contacted him, asking whether he'd received the cash," Tanguay said. "He hadn't. I knew right then I'd been scammed. I called (the MLSE employee) back and asked why he had wanted the $5,000 and he told me that the seller was lying and he had given him the cash. I didn't believe him but I didn't do anything about it at the time."

Toronto manhandled in Motor City

Quote:
There's a fine line between being confident, overconfident and perhaps a bit delusional.

The Toronto Raptors have been dancing around it for the past few weeks as they try to convince themselves they're a playoff-worthy team despite all evidence.

Sunday afternoon, the Raptors had the opportunity to beat an elite team playing at full strength for the first time in nearly two months.

Raptors get preview of matchup they want to avoid

Quote:
Toronto's starting swingmen, Anthony Parker and Jamario Moon, combined to shoot 3-for-14 from the floor, scoring just eight points. The Toronto bench, meanwhile, managed just 18 points as a group.

Andrea Bargnani provided just two of those points, missing all four of his three-pointers, with each finding a different part of the rim.

Reserves outscore Bosh and Co. down stretch in possible first round preview

Quote:
"We run some different things to try to get the ball moving a little bit," Saunders said. "... We're trying to stress to (Jason Maxiell and Amir Johnson) that they need to roll hard to the basket.

"When they roll, they suck in a lot of people and it opens things up where our guards do get the ball back, or they open up at the rim for dishes or for offensive rebounds."

Stuckey put it in even stronger terms.

"Me coming off picks," he said, "and Max and Amir rolling to the basket is deadly."

Pistons foil Raptors, propelled by reserves

Quote:
"They've (the bench) matured, man," Billups said.

"They've been beating playoff teams the last couple of nights, beating teams that are really trying to scramble into position, playing their starters late and stuff like that. They're getting some great, great experience right now."

Yesterday's loss was embarassing. If people are saying that we're losing on purpose to get a matchup with Orlando, with the way we're playing, we'll lose in 5..6 if we're lucky.

Btw, cute looking girl. Looks like my buddy's GF.

agreed! people like our chances to win a game against orlando. as opposed to being swept by detroit or lebron.
