Raptors' Manhattan meltdown a nightmare

Quote:
Why did Jamario Moon, driving the lane late in the third quarter, attempt an alley-oop pass to Maceo Baston with the Raptors struggling against one of the league's laughingstocks, a play that was emblematic of an uncharacteristic 16-turnover evening? Why didn't Chris Bosh get a shot attempt for the first 5:31 of the fourth quarter, by which time the Raptors had fallen behind by 10 points, 92-82? And why didn't someone think to guard Jamal Crawford, the speedy Knicks shooting guard who torched the visitors for a season-high 43 points?
Brezec brashly asks for chance to play

Quote:
"I think I set a record in the NBA. In 15 games, starting games, I didn't get a ball. I didn't get a shot off. You know what I'm saying?" said Brezec, who mixes his Euro-accented repartee with liberal doses of American street slang. "I said (to Vincent), `You know what, Sam? You don't need me. You don't like me. I don't like you. So get me out of here.' ... You see how (the Bobcats, 19-35) are doing this year."

Broadway bummer

Quote:
There were the 12 offensive rebounds, a stat near and dear to the hearts of Raptors' victorious opponents most nights.

Then there were the 17 second-chance points for the Knicks, another consistent factor on a losing night for the Raps.

And then a relatively new one, the uncharacteristic 16 turnovers. All of it was necessary for the Knicks to escape with a win.
Brezec expects time

Quote:
Primoz Brezec initially was not thrilled with the idea of switching teams for the second time in nine weeks, but a conversation with Bryan Colangelo changed all that.

The Raptors general manager promised him something he wasn't getting in Detroit and that was an opportunity. Weighing the merits of the opportunity against a better than solid chance of playing for a championship and Brezec got right to work packing his bags.

Raptors look lost in New York

Quote:
Brezec drove to Toronto from Detroit late Thursday night, took his physical early yesterday morning, flew to New York in the afternoon and took a taxi to Madison Square Garden, arriving in time for pregame warm-ups, though he watched the game on the bench in a suit.
Analyzing the Raptors' core

Quote:
Iím a big Bosh fan, but Iím not sure heís destined to be an unstoppable two-way force that simply requires some help around the edges. Can Bargnani become a real all-star? If so, that might change the discussion somewhat. But Iím a bit skeptical of his potential to become the type of all-NBA talent a No.1 pick should have a chance to become. Ford (and letís presume good health) and Calderon can be starting point guards on excellent teams, and together cover off the point position as well as Bosh does his, at the very least. But that leaves you with two all-star positions and a big maybe at Bargnaniís spot. To me that doesnít get it done, even if you allow for best-case improvement among all parties. To me you need these four guys and at least one more elite, all-star caliber player. And then they need Paul Millsap. Not a Paul Millsap type. They need Paul Millsap.

Jamal Crawford scores ugly 43 points as Knicks rally to beat Raptors

Quote:
It was vintage Crawford - shooting the Knicks in and out of the game on every possession without regard for the score or common sense. He ended up with a season-high 43 points on 29 shots and seven turnovers as the Knicks rallied from a 14-point deficit to defeat the Toronto Raptors, 103-99, at the Garden.
No Trades for Knicks, but Something to Cheer

Quote:
He would not elaborate. But team officials vehemently denied reports of a deal that would have sent Randolph to the Milwaukee Bucks for a package of role players. Other reports had Randolph being offered to Denver and Curry being offered to Miami.

God, even the New York Media are horrible. Crawford has an amazing game and they called his 43 point performance as "ugly".

Oh ya, and don't ask me why the Sunshine Girl looks like she's sniffing her pits.

Yeah, I even noticed during his interview with Jack last night that he has a little swagger about him. I think its a good thing. He's now surrounded by fellow Euros and feels as though he has something to prove again. I think Primo is gonna surprise a few people here in Toronto. Book it.

Well, he better not piss Sam off, he will rot in the bench if he does.

i think this brezec move is more lateral than anything. he's an insurance policy if things go awry with Bargs or nesterovic.

Maybe so, but I'm feeling optimistic here that he might just be someone who's gonna surprise some nay-sayers. I saw what he did in Charlotte (albeit they weren't a very good team) and I think if he can stay healthy he'll be a valuable bench player for this team and cheap to re-sign during the off-season.
