Super, man

Quote:
"It's all about winning games,'' Bosh said after his fourth 40-point game of the season. "I was feeding off my teammates. We're tough to beat when we're playing with intensity."

Two young big men with two different offensive games, it made for an interesting night with Bosh and Howard sharing centre stage. Combined, Bosh and Howard, who poured in 37 points, missed only five shots from the field.
Carter's time in New jersey wearing thin

Quote:
Though he hasn't asked to be traded officially or launched a whine campaign like he did during his final few months in Toronto, it seems that Carter's act has worn thin in New jersey and he looks to be on the way out, if not prior to this afternoon's NBA trade deadline, than almost certainly this summer.
Quote:
RAPTORS EYE PIETRUS

The Raptors, meanwhile, also are working the phones in advance of this afternoon's trade deadline. There were rumblings last night that Toronto GM Bryan Colangelo has been talking with his Golden State Warriors counterpart, Chris Mullin, about sending Juan Dixon and Joey Graham to the Bay Area for swingman Mickael Pietrus.
Raps need Thomas type

Quote:
Somone who can defend the post, protect the paint, provide some veteran presence, these are the elusive attributes missing from the Raptors.

It's seems unlikely the Raptors will be able to address this one issue on a team that could desperately use an athletic wing player before today's 3 p.m. trade deadline.
Kobe and Lakers spoil Shaq's debut

Quote:
Kobe Bryant scored 41 points to help the Los Angeles Lakers spoil Shaquille O'Neal's Phoenix debut with a 130-124 victory over the Suns last night.

Pau Gasol added 29, including a breakaway dunk that put Los Angeles up 123-117 with 1:15 to play. Lamar Odom added 22 for the Lakers, who won their sixth in a row to move into a tie with Phoenix atop the Pacific Division.

O'Neal scored nine of his 15 points in the final quarter and grabbed nine rebounds in 29 minutes against his old team in his first game in nearly a month.

Magic night for Raptors' Bosh

Quote:
"My respect for Chris Bosh came three years ago in one of those rookie-sophomore games, one of those games where no one tries hard," said Van Gundy, who coaching Miami at the time.

"Except Chris Bosh tried hard all night long. I knew he was something special. Everybody was clowning around but not Bosh."
Quote:
"You can't guard Chris when he's making his jump shots," said Raptor coach Sam Mitchell. "He can go around you, left or right, and he can shoot it. I just told the coaches at halftime when they went into the locker room to leave him alone. Don't coach him because he didn't need our help with the way he was playing."
A big deal? Don't bet on it

Quote:
The expendable guys, meanwhile, just don't tantalize. Rasho Nesterovic, a big playoff-tested body at $8 million a year for this season and next, is probably a little too expensive to draw real suitors. Juan Dixon, though Dixon would surely be amenable to a move and the club will try to grant that wish, is attached to an expiring deal that likely isn't worth enough ($2.9 million) to bring back a team-changing contributor. And the rest – Graham, Darrick Martin, Kris Humphries, et al – don't exactly inspire opposing GMs to dream and scheme.
Colangelo fails to land Smith

Quote:
Multiple league sources said last night the Raptor president and general manager tried to pry 32-year-old Joe Smith from the Chicago Bulls before today's 3 p.m. trade deadline.

It's unclear what the Raptors offered for the 6-foot-10 Smith, who's averaging 11 points and five rebounds a game. However, the fact the offer was made suggests Colangelo is aggressively seeking some experience to help Toronto through the final 30 games of the regular season and into the playoffs.

Bosh hits 40 in win

Quote:
"There's not one thing they did that we could guard," Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. "Chris Bosh, we could not guard. We did not have anyone that could guard him."

Van Gundy's frustration was music to Bosh's ears as he readies himself to put his team on his back for the long march to the playoffs, just 30 games away.

"I want to hear that every day from every coach," he said. "We just have to continue to play off each other. With Jose, he's going to move the ball, put the ball in the right spots and if you sag off him he's going to make shots."

The Magic cut the lead to 10 with just more than four minutes left in what was a battle between Bosh and Dwight Howard, two of the best young big men in the NBA. But sure enough, Calderon stepped up with two three-pointers of his own on the next two possessions and then found Jamario Moon for a skyscraping alley-oop to keep Orlando at bay.
Dixon is most likely Raptor to be moved

Quote:
His expiring contract and ability to score points in bunches - if not man the point guard spot - make him perhaps the easiest Raptors player to move, but inquiries were at a minimum last night. Instead Raptors management have spent most of their time convincing teams that no, they don't want to trade Jose Calderon.
Bosh is Howard's kryptonite

Quote:
With Bosh leading the way, Toronto shot 58.8 per cent from the floor and 22 of 25 from the line. Calderon had 19 points and 13 assists for Toronto, while Moon has 17 points and 12 rebounds. Howard led six Magic players in double figures. Orlando shot 45.2 per cent from the floor and grabbed 40 rebounds to Toronto's 33.

RAPTORS CAST A SPELL

Quote:
Led by Bosh's high-efficiency game, the Raptors shot a sizzling 59% from the floor, resulting in a season-high in points. Carlos Delfino led the supporting cast, scoring 23 points, including five three-pointers.

Toronto Raptors feast on Orlando Magic's defense

Quote:
They'll see Calderon running the pick-and-roll in their nightmares, although better to deal with it now than in a possible playoff matchup against the Raptors come April.

Raptors all-star Chris Bosh scored 40 points by making an amazing 14 of 16 shots, highlighting Toronto's 58.8 percent target practice. But it was Calderon who controlled the night and twisted the Magic's defense into knots.

Ya, it would've been a great pickup. I wonder who else is on BC's radar of the same mold...

Dunno, but I guess we'll find out in the next 5 or 6 hours with the deadline looming today.

Kay, I don't know if the news in Chicago is delayed but they're under the impression that a Joe Smith to Toronto deal is still active.

No, Raptorman's a dude and we have co-ed softball leagues here in Canada. Very common now-a-days.

Lots of co-ed Slo-Pitch (hit the board behind the plate for a strike) in North America.

Seen as a recreational sport for older types. But lots of youngens(20-30) are starting to get into it.

Great team game with lots of offense.

She's completing her masters at U of T Scarborough. She was athlete of the year last a couple years ago and still very active. She brushes some people the wrong way with the hottie-high-maintenance routine, but she's always been good to me.

And thanks to the good DR for posting these articles in one place. Great morning read.
