No rush to recovery time

The specialists don't appear to have told Ford anything he didn't already know or suspect. And the news was good.

His spinal cord has not been further damaged. His risks are no different today than they were the day before Atlanta's Al Horford sent him crashing to the court with a hard blow to the top of his head and forehead.
Bonner enjoying Texas

Bonner retains Toronto ties. His girlfriend is a Toronto girl and he was in the city this past fall to see Okkervil River, a band made up of Concord, N.H., natives like Bonner himself. Bonner, in fact brought Okkervil River back to Concord last summer for a charity concert. He said he's in the early stages of planing a similar charity concert in Toronto either this summer or next with the proceeds going to the boys and girls club of Toronto.

T.J. Ford weighs risks involved in returning to game he loves

The decision to return is entirely Ford's. The Raptors are willing to give him as much time as he needs before deciding it's time to practise again. For now, he'll be with the team, but he won't play until he's ready. In his mind.

"I think now my body just needs to just recover and just relax and that's all I want to do right now just relax," he said. "It's tough, being taken off on a stretcher, it's definitely tough to hop right back into it a week later, just knowing your body went into a big shock. Right now, it's just letting my body calm down and when I feel like my body's right, we'll go to the next step."

Ford says he'll be patient

“The key now is longevity,” Ford said. “It’s still early in the season and we still have a lot more games left. Next time I come back, I want to be able to finish the whole season and not have to break it down into pieces like I have been doing so far.”

Which coach is next?

Mike Brown, Cleveland, third season as coach
Record: 13-16
Brown should be given a few more weeks to integrate late-arrivals Sasha Pavlovic and Anderson Varejao back into the lineup. But if the Cavs are in danger of missing the playoffs, a desperation firing is possible.

Spurs-Raptors preview capsule

Bargnani has wrestled starting job away from former Spur Rasho Nesterovic.
