Bosh finds range, unloads on the Clippers
Quote:
Chris Bosh can scratch one big-ticket item off his Christmas list: His long-lost shooting stroke, the one he'd been secretly wishing would turn up under the tree in the same way the world's 7-year-olds wish for their two front teeth, showed up in all its glory last night.

And it was a gift that kept on giving. Bosh, who'd been shooting a dismal 36 per cent from the field during the five-game losing streak the Raptors brought to the Staples Center, put in a game a little more reminiscent of his early-season excellence.
The new NBA: Rougher play and fewer fouls

Quote:
If you need yet more evidence that the push-the-pace game is suddenly out of fashion in the NBA, consider the Phoenix Suns.
Perhaps, as O'Brien says, this doesn't bode well for teams designed around free-flowing, up-tempo offences, the finesse-favouring Raptors among them. And certainly the clubs still committed to the run-and-shoot style aren't having much success.

No rest for Raptors

Quote:
The players went their separate ways following last night's game in Los Angeles against the Clippers but will reconvene in Sacramento on Christmas Day for a 6 p.m. practice in advance of the game with the Kings the next day.
Defence or bust for Raps

Quote:
O'Neal says his teammates are trying to develop a tougher persona, but so far it has not taken hold.

"Guys are trying but we have to try harder," he said. "Seven games under .500 is a steep hill to climb and we can look at it in a couple of ways. Are we getting better and that's it or are we getting better and winning?"

The answer, of course, for the time being is they're getting better and that's it.

The wins are coming slowly. The losses are coming in bunches.
Improved Raptors clip Clippers

Quote:
A strong start to the second quarter had the Raptor lead up to a game-high 21 following an Anthony Parker triple, but the Clippers whittled that one down all the way to six late in the third.
Just about every time it looked the Raps were going to close this one out, the Clips found their way back in.

Every time until Bosh, who has been struggling with his shot for most of December, got hot in the fourth and put the final stake in the Clippers.

"I saw right away from the beginning of the fourth quarter that (Triano) was going to put the ball in my hands and make plays for myself," Bosh said. "I just had to be assertive, attack the rim and once I started doing that everything opened up."

Raptors snap sorry skid

Quote:
Randolph's injury ended any hopes of a Clippers comeback. Bosh scored 12 consecutive Toronto points during a 3:02 span to help increase a 15-point lead to 92-73 with 4:43 remaining. He got a tad greedy and shot an airball from 25 feet about a minute later, much to the delight of the crowd of 16,094.

Raptors' struggles have Triano sounding much like Mitchell

Quote:
It might have taken 10 games, but Jay Triano is starting to sound a lot like Sam Mitchell did in his days as the Toronto Raptors head coach.

"It was a pretty awesome display of shooting," Triano told reporters about the San Antonio Spurs' performance in the Raptors' most recent loss, a 10-point defeat in Texas on Saturday.
Raptors rout lowly Clippers

Quote:
It was the Clippers who looked like they hadn't won in five games. The team came out listless and the Raptors took advantage of it.

Bosh and O'Neal scored as many points (18) as the entire Clippers team did in the first quarter. Los Angeles shot 39 percent from the field in the opening quarter and trailed by as many as 15 points.

"If you look at the lineup we had in there he was going to be the focal point," Toronto coach Jay Triano said about Bosh. "We didn't really have a lot of points on the floor, but it didn't matter. I was going to give the ball to Chris."

Bosh and O'Neal lead Raptors past short-handed Clippers

Quote:
The Clippers fell into the abyss -- or in this case, the Bosh Pit -- and they simply could not get out Monday night despite a spirited third-quarter effort.

Or more like, "Come on, babe, let's get a move on. I wanna do you then get a sandwich."

Lol...although realistically, he's probably thinking, "Come on babe, let's do this while I'm eating a sandwich."
