Ford's injury puts Martin in a Catch-22
Quote:
Martin's contract isn't fully guaranteed but will become so if he's still on the Raptors' roster on Jan. 10. But if Ford still isn't available then or if he's just coming back or if there are concerns he could take another hit on his neck and back and miss more time, the Raptors may want to find someone younger than Martin to ease an increasingly heavy load on Jose Calderon.

And this is what you have to ask
Quote:
I will say that I know – as the coaches do – that Bargnani possesses unique skills. A silky smooth jump shot, an attitude that leaves him impervious to pressure, the knowledge that he can be good. And maybe great. But patience is a virtue I think people need to use with Bargnani but things have to swing both ways.

He’s also soft. He doesn’t know how – yet – to play through adversity, or a modicum of discomfort and until he does, his potential, which he’s shown, will go unfulfilled.

An uncertain future
Quote:
The fear within the organization is that Ford's problems may result in his premature retirement from the NBA.

Bosh lays it on the line
Quote:
Bosh stressed there is a silver lining to the bickering, as it demonstrates they are hungry for victories.
"I think guys want to win so bad, it's like, we get on each other," he said. "(But) there's a time to get on each other, and there's also a time to encourage each other. You're going to have low times and you're going to have highs, but when you're that low, you have to continue to pick each other up."

Durant has company
Quote:
The fact that his name has begun popping up in NBA websites as a ROY candidate has impressed the first-year Raptor very little.
"No, man. I don't think about that stuff, I just come out here and play," Moon said. "I just try to stick with what the coaches ask me to do and try help the team get wins. If those things come into play, then it's great. But I really don't think too much about it. I just play.

One game, Five things
Quote:
Kris Humphries’s stellar play of late got onto the Portland scouting report. Before the game, I saw the Blazers’ whiteboard and the messages the coaches wrote for the players, such as: “Humphries’ Energy.” Energy was written in red marker. Humphries went out and justified the compliment. His block on Outlaw’s tomahawk jam attempt was awesome. He was active on the boards again and is even setting screens with gusto. He is also playing within his limitations on the offensive end. That extension Colangelo gave Hump earlier this season is looking smarter and smarter every game.
