Raps' O'Neal in a real funk

Quote:
You don't think Jermaine O'Neal is taking this offensive funk serious enough?

On the eve of a five-day, three-game Raptors trip that starts tonight in Atlanta --where the Hawks are a surprising 3-0 -- he was up until 4 a.m. yesterday, poring over video, trying to determine why the ball isn't going in the hoop for him.

The bad news is the late-night study session has landed him in the doghouse with his wife, who was upset with her husband spending their last night before he left on a five-day trip glued to the television

The worse news? That other than a tired set of eyes, all that video-watching didn't provide him with concrete answers to why, all of a sudden, he can't put the ball in the net.
Forgive and forget

Quote:
"You learn from it," Mitchell said. "We're disappointed in the game. We had a lot of people who didn't play well and we still had a chance to win the game. There's a lot of positive things to take from last night even though we didn't win."

Mitchell liked the fact his team didn't quit, coming back from a 16-point deficit to get to within one point of tying.

Raptors' Jermaine O'Neal out of tune as a second fiddle

Quote:
Still, as much as O'Neal has been heard fretting about his offensive woes these past couple of days, Chris Bosh, Toronto's franchise player, has focused his discussion mostly on the collective weakness of the team defence. It's an interesting contrast in interests, indeed.

"When we got into this season we talked initially about how no matter what happens on offence, we're still gonna play good defence," said Bosh. "You know, I think we could have taken the challenge better. But you have to learn from your mistakes."

O'Neal frustrated by average start

Quote:
“Every game I'm, like, ‘Okay, next game's my game to get going,” O'Neal said after the Raptors practised at the Air Canada Centre Thursday afternoon before boarding a flight to Atlanta. “You know when you come off an injury and you've been at a certain level for so long you come back with the bar set extremely high.

“And it's a lot more frustrating when you can't get to that bar as quick as you wanted to get to it.”

The pressure is on Raptors' swingmen

Quote:
But Jermaine O'Neal was clear to point out that it is not fair to leave Parker and Moon on an island of blame. He said when the swingmen did get beat by their men, there was little in the way of support from the team's big men.

"We have got to give our twos and threes a little more help, and our twos and threes have got to stay with them," O'Neal said.

So much for the sneak attack

Quote:
Hawks’ reserve guard Flip Murray couldn’t have asked for a better start to his career in red, white and blue. Once again he was the man on the spot when the Hawks needed it - Murray was on the floor in place of Mike Bibby during crunch time.

Murray scored nine of his 14 points in the fourth quarter, shooting 75 percent (3-for-4) from the floor, including a 2-for-3 showing from beyond the 3-point line.

One problem JO is having is that he's trying to make way too many fancy baseline fadeaways with a hand in his face. He's not that same finesse player. He needs to get close to the rim and muscle in easy baskets.

Smitch better find a way to build some confidence in J.O. . And handing him the ball down low doesnt seem to be the way.

And the SSG is smoking! Thats what I have been saying about Toronto. We have so many different nationalities and many more mixes that we dont need to march out one bleach blond after another....draped in a Leafs jersey no less.

VERY nice.

You guys have no sense of romance or style.

Your woman deserves to be placed high on a pedastal while you're amongst your peers.

REZPEKT!

*wipes tear away* Beautiful. It's a beautiful thing. My heart goes pitter patter.

Yeah - I'm just talking about the SSG. The SJG stuff is pretty full of wonderment also however.
