The return of the King
Quote:
But he watched with interest as former Maccabi Tel Aviv teammate Anthony Parker made an impressive return to the NBA with the Raptors after a long stint in Europe. Solomon thought the timing was right after winning his sixth championship in his six seasons overseas with Fenerbahce Ukler in Turkey, where he was named to the first team of the Euroleague after averaging 17.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists and shooting 55.9 per cent from the floor in 21 games.

Calderon apologizes for racist gesture
Quote:
"It was a mistake, a bad mistake," the Raptor guard said of the picture, which showed members of the Spanish national team pulling back the corners of their eyes. "We weren't meaning to do anything hurtful, I take that like a lesson. ... I wanted to tell the people what I am, I've never had that problem before in my life and it will never happen again."
Which Kapono will show?
Quote:
"Partly the blame's on me," he said yesterday. "I've got to perform in the short time that I do get, and then extend my minutes. Hopefully now I have earned somewhat of a chance to kind of work through an oh-for-2 or oh-for-3 start (from the field)."
No heart problems in family history, Jawai says
Quote:
To replace Jawai on their training camp roster, the Raptors have signed journeyman centre Jamal Sampson to a non-guaranteed contract. If Jawai is cleared to resume practising, Sampson will be released and the Raptors will be back to a 13-man roster.

Heart tests, not hoops, scheduled for Jawai
Quote:
"Let's get him to another specialist and get another opinion and if it's concern enough we'll hold him out of practice until we know more," GM Bryan Colangelo said yesterday. Jawai had no indication he was dealing with any health issues until the results of his physical came back. "I've played for four or five years now and I haven't dealt with it before," Jawai said. "I've had no problems with it and it just basically showed up. It's frustrating but I'm kind of handling it okay."
Cash isn't king
Quote:
It's no secret the Raptors are the leaders among NBA teams when it comes to mining the European leagues for talent. "I look at guys like Anthony Parker and Jorge Garbajosa and Calderon and they all played at a high level in the Euroleague for quite some years just like myself," Solomon said. "I looked at that and how successful their careers went in the NBA, and at this point in my career, I think this was the right opportunity for myself."

A: I talked to a guy who talked to Rasho this week and, yes, he was hurt by the trade because he truly bloved the city (still has a place in Toronto as a matter of fact) but he’s also grown up enough to realize it’s a cruel business and he’s got to go where they tell him to go.

The role in Indy is still to be determined, he’s going to have to fight Jeff Foster and Roy Hibbert for a starting role but if I know Jim O’Brien and the way he likes to coach, he’s going to love Rasho for what he brings defensively and with his basketball IQ.

I read somewhere that Rasho's keeping his home in Toronto too. So that alone says alot about his love for the city of Toronto too.

He'll certainly be missed.

It's a buyer's market right now. Maybe he's waiting to sell?

One frontcourt with JON, Bosh, Bargs (if he plays well as a big man) and Rasho would be great IMO.

Hope BC can bring him, IMO it's going to be difficult though (think that we wouldn't be the unique team trying to bring him).
