Raptors pull off a Magical win

Quote:
"If I have one special shot, that's it, going left and try to throw this floater," said Ukic, who finished with 11 points and seven assists five in the fourth quarter. "Since I've been here I've been trying to find the most effective way to finish. I had to completely change my finishes from the way I did in Europe because the first 10 games I got maybe 15 shots blocked. I just came up with this little floater; I try to work on it a lot and it just came."
Raptors succeed against Howard despite Superman's big game

Quote:
It wasn't quite the "Hack-a-Shaq" technique employed in playoff series against the free-throw challenged Shaquille O'Neal, but the physical defensive strategy employed by coach Jay Triano and his team certainly took Howard out of his comfort zone. The main pest down the stretch was Graham, who had volunteered for that duty.

"During one of the timeouts, he asked if he could guard him," Triano said. "He said he wanted it so I gave him the challenge and he did what we asked him to do."

Graham, in the afterglow of the Raptors' second straight surprising victory, was matter-of-fact but extremely confident in describing his attributes as a defender against the physically dominating Magic centre for the final 12 minutes.

"On the court I'm a giant, too," Graham said. "I actually get bigger when I'm out there. He calls himself Superman. I call myself the Incredible Hulk.

"That's two heroes right there."

Work ethic pays off

Quote:
The win, while deserving, does little to scuttle the rumours that continue to circulate and percolate.

But as the league waits to see what move general manager Bryan Colangelo makes, the team's two-game winning streak has at least raised the stock of some players.
Delfino might return

Quote:
During a halftime interview yesterday, general manager Bryan Colangelo, without provocation, mentioned the swingman's name as a possibility.

Delfino left the Raptors last season as a restricted free agent, bolting to Russian club team Khimki BC in what is believed to be a three-year deal worth $12 million US.

The Raptors can match any offer by opposing NBA clubs for Delfino, who emerged as a very productive reserve in his only season in Toronto.

Raptors withstand Howard's heroics

Quote:
Bargnani's 18 points were helpful, but among the beneficiaries was Anthony Parker, back in the starting lineup after losing his starting job to Jason Kapono. With the paint clear, Parker made hard cuts to the basket off screens and was rewarded with four dunks his first four of the season. He led the Raptors with 26 points after converting 13 of 16 shots.

"He is not getting those if Dwight is hanging around there," Raptors coach Jay Triano said. "We did dust off a bunch of old plays for our two guard rather than try and pound it inside against this team."

Raptors post second big upset in a row

Quote:
His 12 points and seven assists off the bench were impressive. Over the last few games, Ukic has made plays whenever he has stepped on the floor, instilling head coach Jay Triano with enough confidence in him to leave the rookie on the floor in close games.

"We thought about getting Will (Solomon) back into the game but we just liked the flow, Triano said. "He was playing well.

"He got on his roll, so we're just going to keep going with him."

Magic lose for 8th time in last 9 visits to Toronto

Quote:
"It wasn't the same intensity level that we have been playing with all year," Nelson said. "We obviously can do better, but you have to give those guys credit, they made plays when they had to, and we didn't."

Van Gundy also was looking toward getting things back on track to host Washington on Tuesday.

"They [Toronto] played harder and better," he said. "We have to go home and get back to it."

Stretch vs. sub-.500 teams could be key for Bucks

Quote:
The five-game stretch opens tonight at the Bradley Center, where the Bucks will take on Toronto. The Raptors have been one of the more disappointing teams in the East and have already fired coach Sam Mitchell and replaced him with interim coach Jay Triano. Philadelphia, another underachieving team, comes to town on Wednesday followed by the New jersey Nets on Friday. The Nets, too, are below .500, although their 16-18 record is slightly superior to that of the Bucks.

That's jokes.. I always love that line.

And I agree with 'trane. Most of these girls are very beautiful - most of us wouldn't know what to do if someone like one of them came up to us in a bar and talked to us.
