Unselfish act shows Bosh's true colours

Quote:
"I'm just proud of our basketball team," said Mitchell. "They snatched a win from us a couple of times and we kept on fighting. You have to be proud of them, that was just an unbelievable win for us.

"I think with a win like that today, some of our players grew up."
Mitchell goes easy on Moon for gaffe and with good reason

Quote:
Maybe Bryan Colangelo, the general manager, needs to make a move to shake up a moribund second unit. And certainly a lot of the second-line woes are related to the lingering absence of the starting point guard, T.J. Ford, not to mention the spotty work of Martin, the pressed-into-service backup.

But who do you deal? It's tough to trade, say, Joey Graham when he's racking up four fouls in all of five minutes and 12 seconds, which is what he was doing yesterday. It's tough to trade, say, Kris Humphries when he's been so up and down. And when starters like Andrea Bargnani and Moon play like backups – and Moon said he was so embarrassed by his four-point foul yesterday that he "didn't want to walk back to the bench" – it only intensifies the load on the shortlist of reliable performers.

Raptors rescue Moon

Quote:
The No. 6 pick in the 2006 draft has proven nearly conclusively that he's the best player to come out of that draft, at least so far.

"He's already a special player," Raptors coach Sam Mitchell said. "But he has a chance to be unbelievable."
Waiting for something crazy

Quote:
We talked with Mitchell about it this morning and while he’s hesitant about killing his guy in the public, he acknowledged that there’s a problem and they’re trying to do everything they can to fix it.

(And by the way, I don’t think anyone is suggesting Bargnani needs to be a 12-rebound a game guy, as one reader, Andy, wondered, quite rightly, in an email this morning. He simply needs to hold his own; to be a neutral factor. That way his teammates’ trust and respect will grow and his offensive contributions will be a net positive, rather than a break-even. Seven rebounds a game – but on a consistent basis - sounds about right.)

Raptors rebound to beat Blazers in double OT

Quote:
Calderon, who wound up guarding Roy, did not foul. Roy stepped outside the arc and hit a three-pointer.

"I didn't want to put the referees in a situation [where] I don't know if they're going to give three [free throws] or not," said Calderon, who played the entire second half and all of both overtimes. "That's why I was thinking like, 'OK. He's running that way. I'm going to contest.' He made it. OK. He made it."

Good until the last flop

Quote:
Bosh exploited the pick-and-roll with Calderon, as the Blazers elected to switch defenders after Bosh set a pick. When Bosh rolled to the basket, Roy -- who is four inches shorter than Bosh -- was forced to front or stand behind Bosh until a weakside defender, usually Outlaw, came to help. But too often, the help was late in arriving, and Bosh was able to drive to the basket or shoot over Roy.

Anyone notice this from yesterday's game?

There were some questionable calls -- Calderon was awarded a tiebreaking three-pointer with nine seconds left in the first overtime, even though replays clearly showed his right foot over the line -- and Webster was grabbed intentionally by Bosh in the second overtime without a foul being called.

But the reality was that Toronto (20-17) was better, in part because the Blazers (22-14) had a devil of a time making baskets.

I suppose you're right.

I still want Kuzzy to elaborate on his statement.
