Default TNT showing Raptors trade some love

Pretty much the whole panel agrees that Toronto got the better end of the deal. Kenny Smith also went as far as to say if the season started right now Toronto would be a 3-4 seed in the east.

Finally some love. At the end of the day, we got the best player. People have pretty short memories, and if we decided not to make this trade and Jose and Ed started struggling for two weeks many would be all wishing that we had done it.

I really hope Bargnani plays even slightly good so that we can sell high on him and DD for a go to big man on offence who can also play defence. i hope to god ross pans out in this situation doe

I am actually really excited to him play for the grizzlies. He is going to have a great playoff run this year and have a great mentor. This trade is the best thing to happen to his career.

Well... Had Bargnani been traded instead of him, he'd become our starting PF, which would have been better for his career, arguably. Not from the number of wins, perhaps, but from the experience standpoint.

He won't learn much playing behind Randolph or from Randolph/Gasol - Davis is a different kind of big, both body-wise and skills-wise.

I dunno about that Mike.... Zach could teach him a ton about positioning for rebounds... and Marc could give him some tips about passing and D.

I'd be surprised if he gets less than 20 min/gm.

Just watching the halftime show.

Kenny, Shaq saying they hate the trade for Memphis.

Chuck: Says he has to wait and see, really likes Davis and it'll come down to whether or not Prince has anything left. Not sure he would have made this deal. Gay best player in this deal.

On the pre game Kenny compared Ed to a young Zach Randolph.

He doesn't start in front of Amir Johnson, Davis isn't as good.

i don't see it at all, a young zach randolph was known for taking a lot of perimeter shots because he thought he has that ability, ed takes few shots outside of probably 10-12 feet
also young zach randolph was known to be a bit of a knucklehead doing and saying pretty idiotic things, ed is like the opposite

not sure they're showing love, we got the best player out of the trade by far, thats just obvious and if they said the opposite that would've been dumb on their part
and the rudy gay trade just makes memphis look like they don't know what direction they're going at all, they make a trade 1-2 weeks ago to free up some cap so they can keep their core together, then they trade away rudy which basically breaks up their core after making a trade to keep it together?!
also picking up ed when the rest of your core players play his exact position(s) just feels like kind of a waste, weakening 1 position to strengthen a position that was already strong?!

Ed better hit the buffet.

On another note... starting to wonder if we didn't give up on Bayless a bit too early hmmm.... been looking pretty solid for the Griz lately. He could be a nice 6th man for them now.

I will say this...if Davis can pack 20lbs on to his thin frame (he has narrow shoulders) and he can iron out that 15-17 foot jumper, I'd say he will likely become a damn good player...like, really good.

That would def. help his game. I guess it's possible... Amir was WAY skinnier coming into the league and he's filled out fairly well (still a bit slight though).

Yeah. I don't find most comparisons work. They did seem to have a decent feel for Ed's game, but probably not based on a whole lot of seeing him.

As for why Memphis wanted him? They did need the depth after trading that away.

You can't just pack on the pounds and hope it works out, this isn't football.

dude...stop. He's 6'9" thats like 10lbs for a 6 footer...if you can't man up 10lbs as a pro athlete you are sick and need a doctor. it isn't bulk, its a couple more years of dedicated training.... Think Antonio Davis... he looked like Davis when he was a rookie..... then he hit the weights hard...he was a beast in his prime.
