TJ Ford Is Back

Raptors point guard T.J. Ford is expected to rejoin the team tonight and take part in a light practice with the squad tomorrow.

Ford won't dress tonight when the Raptors are home to the Los Angeles Lakers at the Air Canada Centre, and coach Sam Mitchell said yesterday he will not rush the diminutive guard back into the lineup until he is absolutely ready, which could be in a week or two.

I could see Jose fans perhaps not being overly thrilled but Raps fans have to be pumped to be healthy again(due respect to Garbo).

I am extatic to have a non Juan Dixon backing Jose up...its not my love of Jose that makes me nervous...I have never been a TJ fan.

Well I hope TJ makes a strong come back. His performance after this set back with determine how much value we will get for him when we trade him. As BC has said Jose will be locked up for a long period of time and Mitchell said that Jose will continue to start for the team for the rest of the season. So if you put 2 and 2 together you get the feeling that TJ days in Toronto are numbered. Will TJ be happy playing 10 to 15 mins minutes a game time will tell now .It's the same TJ coming back when he says the game is all about playing one and one, no team in TJ just wondering how long it takes before he starts talking about himself about going to the all star game. He might be coming back physically alittle stronger but nothing has changed between his ears.

Why was it okay when Mo Pete and JYD said their goal was to be an all-star, but TJ is selfish and a cancer when he does?

You're making a lot of assumptions about things that unless you're in the locker room and behind the scenes you don't really know about. Why can't TJ and Jose share the minutes? Why can't they start playing in the backcourt together? Where is the evidence of all these things you're accusing TJ of?

Werd.

Not getting back into this argument but giving support where it's due.

"I will be the starter and even when I am not the starter I will be the starter"

I will beat that dead horse untill it is glue.

TJ and Jose shouldnt split minutes because Jose is better than him. They shouldnt play in the backcourt together because that has been absolutly sucky everytime they have tried it.

There is alot of evidence that TJ looks to get his own offense off...and that is not always a bad thing, but it is when the team suffers.

finally Mo should have been an all-star, and JYD is just delusional and nobody took him seriously:batman:

Its not just a TJ thing, I just like when players talk about the team game. If you walk the walk and do the team thing everything else will take care of it self. They both will get their minutes, however Jose should get more because he is the better all round point guard.Ater watching Jose lead this team at the point guard he just has solidified his role on this team. We all started to see it last year. Thats why we had the TJ / Jose debate. No matter how much better Jose played last year in limited minutes this injury to TJ just showed the raptors organization and the NBA how much better we are as a team with Jose as our main guy.

First of all I'm a huge fan of Jose, actually since his rookie season, but TJ gets treated really unfairly...

He was referring to his willingness to work relentlessly to be the best whe he was younger and you know it. Stop taking it out of context to make a case for your little anti-TJ campaign.

TJ's five inches shorter and he's a better rebounder, he's a better overall defender, so it's really apples and oranges. Sure Jose runs the offence a little bit smoother, but they also are prone to a whole different set of problems with Jose. Also, name me an example of when they've played together for an extended period of time and sucked?

Oh and Mo would be hard-pressed to make the NBADL All-Star Game.

raptor123 02-04-2008 02:21 PM

I am not trying to start another debate here. I just sit back and watch whats going on in raptor world.TJ just rubs me the wrong way when he opens up his mouth. Just like last year at the end when Jose was taking over, he sulked and was upset with Mitch that Jose was getting the nod over him.We should start a poll and see how long TJ can go before he starts complaining about his minutes. A leopard never changes its spots.

What has he said? Anything I've ever read or heard from him always shows he's polite, insightful and articulate!

When did he sulk? When was he upset with Mitchell? I want proof DAMMIT! Not a bunch of slanted opinions. :)

Sick, Wicked and Nasty! 02-04-2008 02:33 PM

There aren't many players that are starting unit players that wouldn't be vocally disapointed with losing minutes so to pick on Ford is utterly unfair. Jose to this point hasn't been that guy and we'll see at season's end where he signs but what young confident and highly skilled player who was signed as a team's starting point guard wouldn't be protective of his job? Last season when he came back from injury off the bench he was very open to the idea and very gracious about it. He never complained when Jose finished off games instead of him...but sure he likes to be on the court. He sees himself as a starting guard and there really is no debate that that is true.

The issue here shouldn't even be about who's better...and as in my other thread it's goinkg to come down to what one man wants to do...Bryan Colangelo. He is very likely going to have to move one of these guys... Jose's current contract and TJ's current health situation make both of those potential moves difficult to manufacture. All we can really do is wait to see what BC does.

I am having problems finding that article.I did see it why would I make it up ? Its nothing personal here its basketball and what I think is best for the team. I was very pissed when I first read the article about TJ and now I am even more pissed that I can't find that article to remind everyone about it.
