Unfortunately milk for atleast the next 4 years he will be apart of our future unless he has to prematurely retire because of his recent injuries. Considering his health and his contract, it makes him pretty much impossible to move now.

But anyhow, I too think both can continue to coexist with one another, but I don't think Ford should just be handed the starting job again once he returns. They say contracts usually dictate who's the starter and who's the back-up, but come next year both guys will likely be on an even plain with respect to contract. So, I say in order to generate some friendly internal competition, the better performing player starts while the other is his back-up. I think that's fair.

for the next 2 years, I doubt he can exercise his option if he's retired ...

And I think you misunderstood me, this is not about TJ - I totally agree with Thriller, this past month clearly showed that TJ is the better defender. But let's be cynical here, TJ right now is considering whether he should retire. The reason? Not something will go away, his problems are not curable. If you were the GM, would you choose somebody in TJ's position to be "your point guard of the future"?

That was a couple weeks ago before the specialists gave feedback to him and the Raptors. I'd hope that if the doctors felt that he was seriously putting himself at risk, that they would say so. They'll always be an element of risk for TJ, but from what I read the injury wasn't as severe as first mentioned. That being said, your riding off Ford before he even starts his training (or rehad if you will) with Lucas. Doctors have cleared him and Ford says he feels great, so lets be optimistic.

ok - we can be optimistic about it, but tell me in all honesty that you will not cringe everytime he hits the floor (which is about every other minute ...). This kind of thoughts, once they creep into your mind, it's very very hard to get them out.

And I'm not writing TJ off - obviously, as a Raptor fan, I'd rather have him back at full strength. I prefer Calderon, true, but that doesn't mean I think TJ cannot be a great PG. Who knows, maybe his injury will keep his price reasonable in 3 years, and we can renew him for a similar amount as he makes now.
