I am all about moving him aswell, but the way Ross played the first game, it's good to have a guy like Salmons on the floor.. I much prefer Landry Fields over Salmons.. but he doesn't shoot well

well...neither has Salmons. Salmons was the better alternative when he got here from Sacramento, because he was shooting well. Now, Landry has to give you more, the only thing he doesn't have is playoff experience and as game 1 showed, that doesn't really mean too much for Salmons.

Landry is a good glue kind of guy I think, good ball handler and high ball IQ, and can defend.

I blame BC for giving him such a dumb contract

To me the upside of Fields long term is that he is in fact a solid, young player (who may or may not improve in his shooting over time given actual playing time and confidence), who is on a bad contract now, and that might kill his value come next summer (perception is everything), and he could be easily re-signed to a 3M ish deal to be that glue guy 3rd/4th wing.

I completely agree on Fields, Dan, and have been clamouring for him to get some time over Salmons during the regular season for precisely these reasons.

Look, the guy is young, smart, gives you effort and unselfish team play and is a pretty good defender. I am sure his shooting voes can be overcome with re-conditioning and confidence buildup, assuming, of course, that the nerve issues have finally been corrected. Why he hasn't been played in March and April is still a mystery to me.

I would have liked to see Fields more this season, especially considering he is on such a large contract. He's made a ton of money, and has played in what 30 games over two years? He would need to return to old form, and accept a deal even cheaper than 3M a year to make it any even remotely not a massive failure. Fields owes us in some way, and I think he can be a solid contributor. I just don't see him getting time with Casey. Hasn't he been somewhat healthy for a while now and he hasn't been given a chance.

Various TO scribes reporting that Fields will get minutes in game 2 to guard Pierce. It's happening!!! Still think Patterson would do a fine job, but if this means less Hansbrough/Salmons, I am very happy.

The problem with Fields is they can leave him wide open on the perimeter and they don't have to guard him. They can hedge hard. This is the second problem when Ross gets turfed early. They double the F&*# out of DD on every play basically. Ross just has to stay in the game for us to have a chance.

And whoever gets D-Will on offense should be abusing the hell of of his no defense playing ass.
