Time For A Change?

Just reading Doug's blog today and it got me thinking, we seriously do need a little bit of a shake-up. Doug suggests maybe making a few changes to the starting line-up like removing Bargnani and Moon, but I think we give back Ford his starting role. I think a happy Ford may be a productive one and while I don't necessarily like to demote Jose I think Jose would accept such a role moving back to his backup spot because the team player he is. He's would also bring some life to a non-existent 2nd unit. :(

I think T.J. being a starter again will help him not only to regain his confidence, but also a sense of selfworth again. Eventhough these guys are suppose to be professionals, even some of the best players need to be coddled and have their egos stroked. I think Ford is one of those players. So why not experiment with such a bold move now so if it doesn't work in the next couple weeks, its still gives us time to change back before the playoffs.

Thoughts?

But here’s the question: Do you do one tonight (Moon) or do two on Wednesday (Bargnani and Moon)?

Me? I just do Moon but I wonder just who takes his place.

If you replace him with Kapono, what’s that do for the second unit scoring on nights when Delfino’s not making shots? And while Kapono’s defending better (“he’s trying to box out now,” one person told me on the weekend), can he guard starters?

The thing with Moon is all the stuff he’s supposed to bring: Defence, rebounding, energy, are lacking most nights. And teams have pretty much stopped guarding him.

Why not replace Moon? I say start Delfino. That way when his shots aren't falling, you can easily replace him with Moon or Kapono (or make Moon a SG and have him cover them - I think he can do that)
And start TJ. Get his confidence - and his trade value - up.

The one thing we need to do is get Delfino and TJ away from eachother. When both are on the court both think they should be the primary ballhandler and it just kills our offence. Delfino should stick to his fucking role and stop thinking hes Barbosa out there. Take open shots and play d. You suck at creating your own shot and trying to create plays, STOP IT.

I disagree.

Defino is good at getting to the hole and he's also quite capable of initiating the offense.

I wish he would hit his FT's though.

Bargnani needs to stay. Benching him would slaughter his confidence.

I'd wait until Bosh comes back for the PG situation. It's possible that a lot of Jose's faltered play is from the lack of Bosh's picks and double teams he sets up. Plus we can't reward TJ for playing like a douchebag, that's backwards. If it's still not working in two weeks though, ok, put TJ in.

I'll all for changing Moon though, who has been awful lately. Shooting a 3 when Sam specifically said if you're not a 3 point shooter, don't take them? And his d has been pretty bad.

Moon doesn't get that he is open for a reason... opposing team prefer him to take 3 point shots instead of Kapono, Delfino, Jose or AP...

What confidence? He's already smashed, and Rasho has been fantastic in the 1st quarters. I'm 100% in for bringing Bargs off the bench once CB is back. Enough with this experiment. All the rats are dead, and it's stinking up the lab.

I completely agree with the PG comments.

i'm actually disliking moon with each passing game...
he just ends up doing something bad and pissing me off.
for some reason he has fallen in love with jumpshots that are wayyyy out of his range.

i think its time for moon to sit for a while. what does he bring outside of that one huge block and that one huge dunk in transition?

Bargnani has been looking more confident lately IMO. His bad games are from foul trouble followed by Sam sitting him out for the 2nd half. But he's definitley gotten past the deer in the headlights feel that he had in December, to say the least.

I agree that shaking things up is likely a neccesity. I'm thinking right now that maybe we should start Kapono. The one thing I've noticed with Kapono is when he is actually given the minutes and plays with an unselfish unit he's actually a very nice asset. It's espescially fun to watch him play with Parker and Calderon.

Now would I give Ford back his starting role? No. Why? Because he doesn't really deserve it. The fact that you're sulking and then get your job back because it gives you an ego boost. Sorry, no. Sports and starting spots and minutes is dependent upon working your ass off, not sulking, not playing poorly, not making questionable decisions. No, if TJ got that, and with the attitude he has shown then it sets a bad precedent and bad example for later on. Work your ass off, use your god given talents and earn it. If you outplay the guy in front of you then yes. Otherwise, right now, no.

I agree about Kapono.

Moon was fine in the starting lineup when Chris Bosh was there. Essentially Moon was the one guy who wasn't an offensive threat. No offense to Rasho, but he isn't very reliable offensively - and i don't think we can afford to have both of them play such key roles.

I'd much rather have Kapono in there as his outside shooting is actually reliable. It would balance the scoring out quite a bit.
