Arrow Tidbits from Doug's blog

Quote:
Jay brought up an interesting point Monday when we were talking about the Charlotte Bobcats and how itís going to be on DeMar and Sonny tonight to take care of Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace.

ďTheyíre kind of like who Sonny and DeMar can maybe evolve to be as players, the way they play and the experience they have. Itís a good matchup for those guys and itís good to go up against guys like that and learn.Ē

Now, Iím not quite sure that DeRozan and Weems can grow into those two guys but I do see Jayís point, to a point, so to speak.

Iím still not entirely sure that DeRozan and Weems can play together Ė I think their skills right now are quite redundant Ė and I also didnít think the Jackson-Wallace thing would be all that great. Yes, Charlotte got to the playoffs for the first time ever a year ago; this year itís been a struggle.

I think one of your wings has to be a legitimate three-point shooting threat and thatís certainly not the case in Toronto right now; I think one of them has to be able to consistently break his man down off the dribble and thatís certainly not the case in Toronto right now.

Seriously, it doesnít get better than this.

Walking out of the terminal at the Charlotte airport, heading for the cabstand on Monday night.

See it and as Iím heading there, there are two cabs ready to pull out, a little car and a van and Iím figuring Iíll have to wait a minute or two for a ride.

The van pulls away from the curb and comes to a stop.

The side panel opens, a guy says, ďHey, my man, get in. Where you going?Ē

Itís OAK!

Yep, the one and only.

Heís in town to see Michael Jordan inducted into the North Carolina Hall of Fame at halftime tonight (quick question: What took them so long to do that?) and he was in rare form in the 20-minute drive downtown.

Heís a big fan of Jerryd Bayless, is working on a couple of media things (a potential radio gig and a TV cooking show thatís in production), still canít understand why the Raptors have a seven-foot three-point shooter and canít wait to write his book.

Valid point

We cant keep starting Weems and DD at the 2 and 3...

A team does need atleast one legitment 3 point shooter at one of those positions...

Neither of those 2 can shoot...

I still think put Klieza back in the starting 3 spot for a few games

Did Doug go down on Oak? The dude has some serious, one-sided bromance issues.

Doug is right when he says Weems and DD are redundant. Time to ship one off before it becomes clear to everyone else. Keep the one you think has a higher ceiling and then ship Weems out. lol

Weems is a very good sweetener in a package for alot of teams....

Bargnani isn't just a seven foot three point shooter anymore. He's playing in the mid-range area and in the post a lot more this season.

I would definitely watch an Oak cooking show.

I think that Oak is looking for 2 things from his 7-footers more than anything else.... defense and rebounding. 2 things that Bargs struggles with on a nightly basis.

You're right. However, offensively I think he isn't as scared as last season playing closer to the rim.

The fadeaways from in close have disappeared for now, thankfully. I really really couldn't handle all of that weak-ass shit. Of course it was probably all just because he wasn't getting enough touches.

Neither DD or Weems are SF at the 3, so I don't know why Jay would play them both. I liked it when one came off the bench while the other rested. They both have relatively the same skillset. Kleiza at the 3 with Wright coming off from him would be good. But other than that, our SF position looks kinda weak.

Yah when Jose comes back I think Weems should come off the bench again

Jose/Bayless/Barbosa
DeRozan/Barbosa/Weems
Kleiza/Weems/Wright/DeRozan
AJ/Ed/Kleiza/Dorsey
AB/Ed/AJ/Alabi

I really think we need to play at least 10 guys a night & roll with hot hand!

Jay for the most part has done that but some injuries have changed his rotations...
