Imagine our team!
Take away AB!
Take away Lucas!
Add Reggie Evans! ok, tougher
Add an athletic guard! even Ben Uzoh
It doesn't have to be like that (and it won't), but it's not hard to imagine our team to be an attacking "fighter" team and be successful with minor alterations.
There's no way to build a championship caliber team from scratch. You have to go through phases. So getting in the play-off is not a bad way to start. I don't what MU expects to do. But even you're lucky and have aspirations there are no gurantees, look at Brooklyn!
What it definitely doesnt mean is to jump-grow giving away high potential assets a la Ed Davis trade. Big Mistake!
What do we have:
JV will never be a superstar. You gotta have a handle for that.
TRoss needs to grow mentally to be focused even if others aren't to become a star.
We need to add non-phasable players like Matt Barnes (though not him).
DD needs to become meaner.
Look, what happened before was: The team is focused and playing tough and then suddenly: Bargnani! Wtf! The momentum goes.
We haven't had one season where everyone's on the same page.
Continuity brings success. And more talented players on our roster have never had a chance to experience that!
p.s. I would take George Karl in a heart beat.
