Thoughts on Bargnani

I was just thinking...

Well he's not Dirk & he's not Durant give or take a few inches...

All AB does is score & he doesn't make players around him better.

He's not getting better at rebounding or blocking shots, dribbling or stealing the ball...

All he can do is score so then we should use him accordingly (coming off the bench) till he is traded...

In short he is a 7 foot Vinny the Microwave Johnson that can't dribble or pass well.

(Man we need to trade AB like ASAP)

talk about a redundant thread.... what's the point?

COPY ROGER THAT TEN FOUR CONFIRMING THAT LAST ONE OVER AND OUT

Well, this is a new revelation

edgarfred 04-08-2011 02:10 AM

could just change his role (first big off the bench) value is probably similar to amir's and johnson would probably be easier to move. He scores as easily on other centers as they score on him

Dutches 04-08-2011 03:39 AM

Boo This Man.

halphbreedballer 04-08-2011 08:58 AM

The question is why has AB floundered in all aspects of the game except offence?

There has to be a reason? Or is he just lazy?

P.S. Jose needs to be traded too (LOL)

Ataf 04-08-2011 09:19 AM

Give him one more season too prove himself? :cookie:

And if Bargnani would have played hard?

I have read a lot of Bargnani bashing this days.

At the beginning of the season Bargnani seemed lost. Than came a time where the team was able to win some games and quite a lot of this games Bargnani was good. It was consensus that his man to man defence was average and his help defence poor (btw there was a nice post somewhere where it has been analyzed how help defence impacts on the bigs, who are the last wall of defence, and that foultrouble are a problem for bigs in helpdefence). But it was also stated that he seemed lost only at times, not the whole game and he produced at least some blocks.
The team was 8-11 when Reggie broke his foot (can't remember) and was on pace to fight for playoffs.

Now Bargnani does not block anymore, does not rebound and he does not foul at all. We are 21-52 and tied for the 3rd lottery slot.

I have now a question in my mind:
If Bargnani would have played with the same effort of the first games and if we would have won 6-7 games more, we would look at a the 7th-8th lottery spot, with a crap-shot to get a good player.
Perhaps it was on purpose that Bargnani played so lazy?
Perhaps he was simply not motivated and the staff thought its good, so they can tank?
At least Bargnani didn't suffer any major injury this season and could rest ^^.

Lets hope its the Bargnani from game 11 to 20 that shows up next season.

I'm really shocked that no one can see a pattern here.

Whenever he's fighting through a bunch of nagging injuries and illnesses, he sucks.

It was the same as in his second season.

archie63 04-08-2011 10:01 AM

Are you suggesting he played injuried all season long (even small injuries)? Think back some month ago on italian papers someone suggested he may undergo surgery ( I don't remember if it was his ankle)

jeffb 04-08-2011 10:06 AM

So on top of everything else, he can't play through any injuries nagging or otherwise? Lovely. Oh well let's give him a pass, i mean he's a big and it's not like many bigs have nagging injuries EVER.

Acie 04-08-2011 10:14 AM

It's not a pass or an excuse. In fact it's not a good thing at all.

creative1mm 04-08-2011 10:28 AM

well..
the sucky thing is we didn't get Tyson Chandler.. then Bargnanni not being a true center wouldn't even stand out as much

but now you have Ed Davis playing like a true big man at pf and AB playing center does not fit.. he gets exploited

if we didn't have Ed then you can experiment with putting a true center with Bargs, but now I say you get rid of his ass

Actually he sucks most of the time injured or no.... the real pattern is when he drops 30 once every 10 games or so and everyone goes nuts thinking that he's the next Dirk.

nobody's comparing him to dirk anymore.... get off that ridiculous hate notion.

the truth of it all is that anyone hating or praising AB is being overly emotional. He has struggled alot defensively, but most of the Raptors have this year. He's shown flashes of offensive brilliance, but it's not been consistent enough. The guy is 25, yes soon 26 for those math specialists, and he's shown there is still room to improve. This AB must go philosophy is pathetic, but he's also never been heralded as the guy by anyone other than haters trying to slam him. He's another relatively young piece with more upside on an otherwise very young and inexperienced team.

Let's all realize that this team is very far from accomplishing anything significant regardless of what happens this offseason.
