Who can we get then?

And for God's sake don't say Rudy Gay because there's no WAY that MEM is letting him go anywhere.

No one's going to deal you a cheap, healthy all-star calibre player for Bargs and Jose.

No one.

Don't know, but it damn well better not be Stoudamire.

I don't think that there is a necessary connection between the risk and the reward. Sometimes the risk is low and the reward great, or vice-versa. We should analyze both aspects in each individual case on their own merits.

In this case, I think that Amare constitutes a huge financial risk due to his contract, lack of insurance, and health. Even in the best case scenario, I don't think his talent justifies such a risk, especially when we look long-term. It's admittedly a judgement call.

This is what it comes down to.

2 yrs ago he was an MVP candidate.

Last year (while battling injuries stemming from coming into camp out of shape) he still put up 17 & 8 on 48% shooting.

I would be willing to wager that here, as the 1st or 2nd option along with Lowry, he'd be good for at least 22 & 8 if not more.

Seriously?

I love Amir and Jonas but ANY other "big" on this roster is easily replaceable.

I would love to get Shumpert back as part of the deal but I'd be SHOCKED if NYK let him go. I also couldn't see them taking back Fields.... could be wrong though.

Again... this is a move that's geared around not just MAKING the playoffs, but possibly winning a round and perhaps even going further. It's also geared towards keeping Lowry.

My worst fear? That we'll stand pat, keep Bargs and Lowry will bolt (Jose will also be gone) leaving us with DD, Jonas and not much else.

As I said before I wouldn't be opposed to making a play for E. Gordon either.

To those saying that Fields, DD and Ross aren't SFs.... that's true.... but all 3 of those guys aren't going to play SG. Someone's going to have to sacrifice (unless we deal 1). DD's not going anywhere. Neither is Fields with his new contract.... so I guess it becomes... can we deal Ross in a package for a SF?

I honestly wouldn't care if we got Amare. I'd be fine with 1 of those 3 (and Kleiza) manning the 3-spot.
Either way nothing is going to happen till all these players talk about get healthy...

we gave up a pick that turned into a top center with the JO deal.

the way i see this is we're trying to get rid of Bargnani and amare is an option. very different.

I've thought a lot about it too and if they take back fields i would sooo want it. if not then mehhh.

Still the most glaring hole on the raptors' roster. Instead of going after SFs, BC decided to stockpile on SGs.

I think it really speaks volumes to the roster BC has made when we are actually discussing the hypothetical trade of Amare (with a giant contract and a history of injuries) coming to the raptors.

We don't need an aging PF with injury issues.... That doesn't mean we shouldn't consider trading Bargs

Bargs needs to start showing some consistency... He is showing 6th player capability

Id give Bargs a little bit longer to get it together. Otherwise, this deal would be awesome.

Amar'e was a BEAST for NY before they gutted the team. He'd be brutal with Jose.
