They're chanting 'M-V-P!' in Toronto

Quote:

The season is young, but fans in Toronto would like to submit a candidate for MVP. [The oft-maligned Andrea Bargnani] continues to sizzle under the direction of [Dwane Casey]. The Cavs looked lost trying to defend the swift 7-footer. Whether nailing from deep repeatedly or faking veterans Antawn Jamison and Ryan Hollins out of their sneakers, Bargnani was cooking. How well is Bargnani playing this season -- for the first time ever and the first time since Chris Bosh was in town, a smattering of possibly well-lubricated fans were chanting M-V-P when Bargnani went to the line. MVP? Let's not get crazy, people, but Bargnani certainly has played at an elite level so far.

He is playing at an elite level so far ... I'm very happy to see this, but more important is the effort on both ends of the court ... Tis is what I'm impressed with.
I don't believe he can continue to shoot at such a high efficiency rate ... But I don't care as long as there is the consistent effort and continued improvement on defense.
He will always be a nightmare for people to guard ..
Keep it up Bargs and then the all star team may become a reality

He is definitly doing great this year. But MVP????
I will reserve that comment till we take on some better teams like Miami, OKC, or (cant believe i am saying this) the Clippers.

Raptorman 01-06-2012 08:56 AM

The key word in that article is "lubricated".

hitman67 01-06-2012 09:49 AM

I hopes this becomes a trend. Not because Bargs is anywhere close to being an MVP candidate but rather because of the positive reinforcement. The guy runs solely on confidence and whenever his confidence is high he's a completely different player. Knowing that your fans think you're amazing has got to be very rewarding and hopeful inspiring enough that he'll keep this up!

Key words.....SO FAR

Orlando, NYk's.....Although its way to early to be chanting mvp

He's our best player since Vince was here! He's like an uncaged "lupo".

MikeToronto 01-06-2012 11:27 AM

Let the fans have their fun, lubricated or otherwise. Could help Bargs' confidence too, you know. ;)

LKeet6 01-06-2012 12:06 PM

no harm in it!

i think the m-v-p chant can be warranted for just a one off huge game! just a bit of fun.

if he continues playing like this all season and becomes an all-star this year or next then he can get it every game from the whole crowd! that's when it becomes "real"

he deserves the confidence boost for his great start. And it wouldn't hurt at all for him to know that if he plays hard the fans can still be turned around to becomming supporters of him.

bargs to drop 30 tonight! 8 reb, 10+ FTA.

box92 01-06-2012 12:25 PM

HAHAHA he has played great so far, hope it keeps up, and he keeps taking those charges, really did not see that coming

TORaptor4Ever 01-06-2012 03:25 PM

From being soundly booed to be cheered an as MVP lol....

can't the barg supporters and the bosh fans just get along? i don't understand why it seems like those who are a fan of one hates the other. me? i don't like either of them lol.
bosh was an allstar on a bad team. last nights hawk vs heat game, barkely said bosh is a complementary player. a good, but not great player. he's not someone you give the ball to and say carry us. that's not a knock on bosh because its a fair analysis. with all the early success bargs and the team is having this year it hit me that bargs is basically the same mold and fans are all ready to say he's better than bosh? chanting MVP? bosh at least was an all star on a bad team.
