This team has too many chuckers

How can you expect to develop any of the young guys When Kleiza Barbosa and Weems innecessantly hoist away. Trade some of them.

Bad coaching... Jay gave them green light! There is no system on offence nor on defence.

jeffb 01-04-2011 10:42 PM

The young players are developping just fine and playing alot of minutes. When Bargs was out nobody was complaining about the young players development.

Kleiza took 10 shots tonight (50FG%) in 28min, absolutely nothing wrong with that. Derozan had 14 shots, Bayless took 10 shots... who else do you want taking shots?

Barbosa took a few too many for sure, but 3-4 from deep is a good sign.

Bankiz 01-04-2011 10:46 PM

trade barg, kleiza, barbosa, evans, caldy and weems, and then wait for the depature of triano.

just take a real good coach and some young prospects abd bext year at least we will have a chance to build something.

to many " mas-tu vu" in this team.

just please with wright, bayless, davis rookie year is good so far, amir show he can be there as a backup and DD.

wair that can be our 5 starter. we will lose for sure, but at least they will try harder than with all the first i mentioned earlier.

so yes this team has too many chuckers... egt ride please.

the question isn't the number of shots, it's the quality of shots. And Bargnani needs to be assessed along with everyone else in that regard.

Defend, and take the best shots available, while developing some kind of a halfcourt game by the end of the season, I would hope.

people, just wait next season, peja's contract is expiring. 15m cap room to us. We get a draft pick + a chance to sign someone good :). We need time. We are rated as 30th team and we are playing better than expected. we need to chill the fuck out and support our team. Cheers.

I agree this team will get better by next season (if there is a season), with the cap flexibility and hopefully a fairly high draft pick. But wether BC is the GM or it's someone else I have to say I'm skeptical on who we can bring here at this point at least via FA due to our current standing in the league and due to the fact that many players don't want to be here to begin with.

They do, as long as they're not a Toronto Raptor ;)

Weems, Kleiza and Barbosa chucking all the time, it's true. Is it coach fault? Probably yes.
Who is Weems? Weems is the guy, who should be happy he is registered to play...
Barbosa used to be a smart guy, but now he is the biggest chucker IMO. In the other hand, he hits a lot of his stupid shots, so whats the difference :D
Kleiza never was a smart guy, but he never was a chucker either. He playing for stats, he really wanted sign with Toronto. Whats the point to sign with Toronto? He knew this team stinks, has no SF and he will have a great chance to improve his stats.

Dutches 01-05-2011 10:52 AM

there are no set roles on our team (aside from maybe Bargs) hence, CHUCKFESTING!

Sick, Wicked and Nasty! 01-05-2011 11:07 AM

Keep in mind Triano knows he's got a short leash... while this team is not expected to do big things there is always pressure on the coach to produce wins as well as to show that his GM's signings were good ones. Letting some of these guys do more than they should be doing, all the while praying those shots fall is part of it. Put Kleiza in Jackson's system in LA and he would be used as a post up threat and spot up shooter...he wouldn't be allowed to dribble around and make a fool of himself. Here he's being asked to do things he's never been great at and we're hoping it will work.

The team really has no legitimate scorers besides klieza and andrea.
The rest are just finding their shots.
Barbosa can score, but his talent lies in his speed.

They are not chuckers, they just cant hit shit.

This the best thing I've read on here.

fk24 01-05-2011 11:30 AM

They are chuckers. They regularly take bad shots and barely pass the ball up. If players start chucking with regularity, it doesn't help with the growth of a young team.

Seeker 01-05-2011 12:08 PM

So you're expecting players to not shoot?
This team has NO OFFENSE SYTEM. It's not players' fault.

Barbosa IS a chucker. But he has speed and agressivness and he can be a great spark to raptors game, coming from the bench with a hurricane. It doesn't always waork though, of course.

Kleiza is a team player. So many times i watched him get the ball and wait by 3pt line, looking for his teammates to move, to get into the better position. Mostly everyone just stands there and looks at him. He is used to european style, when all the players on the team actively moves, trying to make themselves available.

I'll repeat, this team's offense is a joke. And don't even start me about the defense.

you always talk trash about Linas, wtf?

Scully 01-05-2011 12:49 PM

I think we should all keep in mind that Toronto offense is run and gun. Which we are doing with a great degree off success (first in the league in fast break points). The half court is a little less formed. We seem to be shifting from a drive off of a high screen with Barbosa and/or Derozan. Or pick and pop with Caldron and Bargs. The need for spacing trumps the need for movement in these situations, so we end up with a lot of flat footed jump shots as second options. This becomes more evident when the rotation is shrunk and there is far more desperation to keep up. The last few games have been lost by margins of almost 20 points consistently. Can you really blame guys for shooting out of their range. Traino, should be looking for something more dynamic, I agree, but imo there is disconnect when it comes to executing the game plan. Which makes question this teams ability to deal with complexity.
