Default Tank Poll

The DeRozan for Bledsoe rumours point to a tank.

The Rudy Gay contract dump refusal points to a non tank.

The Bargnani trade could go either way.

Soon enough, Masai's going to tip his hand.

Enough with the jibber jabber, let's poll this before it's too late.

Either you believe that we need a superstar draft pick, or you believe that we can create a winning culture, develop young talent in that system, and bring in free agents to put us into championship contention.

(BTW: I'm anti-tank in general, but when I see a LeBron James in the draft I have my doubts.)

It's not going to be possible to tank with Lowry, Gay, Amir, Jonas, and DD. We will end up coming in around 9-10th place which sucks. Therefore, I chose the 3rd option.

I'm still firmly on the tank wagon. We're essentially PHX West right now. We're over the cap, we have mid level talent, and we're still in no mans land in terms of where we're going with the roster. We have no room to add good bench pieces, and not enough core talent to expect anything more than what happened last year. The logical solution is to tank, but obviously in doing so, we need to get good assets back for our middling core. I can withstand another shit year as long as it serves a purpose to get us to become a contender within 2-4 years.

What I cant stand is sticking with the current roster knowing we'll be a 7th-9th seed, out in the 1st round, without hope to become a contender because we're handcuffed financially by our overpaid core. All of the people who want 'stability' in terms of sticking with the current core are out of their damn minds. You want stability when you have a good core in place, not a below average one like the one we have now.

I don't know about not expecting better than last year.

The beginning of the year was a disaster, but the starting unit really seemed to come together with Rudy Gay (and with Amir in place of Bargnani).

I expect 7th in the east at minimum, no way are we worse than the Celtics, 76ers and Bucks next year.

I don't want another shitty season... too much already !
and to do a tank season would mean another one the year after that as well.
that would be too much to endure.

but let's see for a second :
My Next season projection at this date :

1. Miami

2-3-4-5. Indy - Chicago - BK - NYK

6-7-8. TOR - Cs - Bucks

9-10 : Cavs - Wash
11-12-13-14-15 : Detroit - ATL - 76ers - CHA - Orlando

so to me, MU would pass on a playoffs appearance in his first year. and if we somehow end up against NYK or Indy in the first round that could be a close one.

We'd get killed vs Indiana, and maybe win 1 game vs NYK.

i didn't say it will be a 7 games series, i said it will be close.

no tank!

we have good pieces still developing into what could be key pieces to a longterm successful team. we're not strapped by contracts by any means. we have exemptions that'll allow us to fill the holes and expiring contracts that will allow us to take on talent. don't worry about the tax or the salary cap, we don't pay it.

The worst case scenario is if we finish 9th - 10th, in which case we should have done a complete tank. I'm sure Masai knows whats best for the team.

+1 No more of the kinds of tanks we've done in the past if it must be a tank.

If you miss the playoffs for 5 years, you should have had a good shot at Irving, Davis or Wall.

The funny thing is, we matched up well against those two teams last year. I don't know what you're thinking sometimes.

I expect the Knicks to be a bit worse than last year. They might win as many regular season games, since they can beat up some of the tanking teams, but they're getting softer. Losing vets like J-Kidd, K-Thomas, and probably Martin. Adding softness like Bargnani, while giving JR Smith long term security that could make him soft.

If any teams are going to kill us in the first round, it would be Miami, Chicago (if Rose is healthy) and maybe Brooklyn if the Nets have chemistry.

disagree about the gay comment, it doesn't go against the tank - that offer was close to an insult, just because we're tanking, doesn't mean we're giving away our assets. The fact that other GMs feel we would even entertain such an offer is pretty telling, you don't see Detroit offering crap to say Brooklyn for JJ.

Personally, I have little doubt about where we're going, but I still want some undeniable proof that we're tanking before I can really relax ...

Um, depends on the definition of "kill". Indy would defeat the Raps.
