Lebron is the best player in the league, and he wasn't able to be the best player until he joined a team with the right type of environment to enable him to be the player he is today.

I just don't understand hindsight saying we should have drafted Drummond. part of it has to do with the fact that it is hindsight, and part of it as to do with the fact that Drummond is Drummond.

As a Raptor fan, it's exciting just to see what happens next without a Gm who is dead-set on a player who is fucking useless being the cornerstone of the franchise. Let's see what happens with some players worth cheering for...Derozan, Lowry, Val, Amir, Etc.
Hindsight has nothing to do with the Drummond pick. People knew it was a big reach at the time, and they have confirmed that now.

LeBron was very clearly the best player in the league even before he joined the heat, and if you're saying that tanking creates a bad environment that players avoid while bringing up the Miami big 3...a little contradictive don't you think?

Sure Gay or DeRozan aren't useless, but they're certainly not franchise players. Val might become that but he certainly isn't one right now.

It's funny that Masai talks about karma in these matters. Bring on all that good karma we've got owed to us.
Fair enough.

+1

Well said.

Also- I would've really liked to see other players try and take that 07 Cavs team to the finals like LBJ did.

I wonder when Colangelo's draft choice of Ross over Drummond came up in the interview to keep his job. And I'm actually serious about that. Outside of missing the playoffs 5 years and not stockpiling too much in the way of great assets, I pictured TL asking 3 things in particular about his thinking.

1. The Fields contract as a strategy to sign an old Steve Nash with the hopes of ultimately doing what?

2. Why hang onto Bargnani so long when he is spoiled, lazy and not accountable for anything?

3. As a very recent thing, the thinking of Ross as a reach when Drummond is very likely the best available. Now one of your rivals has a player that they could trade for a guy like Ross and a lottery pick if they wanted to.

His tin man heart has been injured for 7 years and we all know who got in the way of him being treated more harshly to grow up.

I'll admit I'm guilty myself for thinking Bargnani would finally come around, but also said Colangelo would ultimately end up sinking in the same ship as Bargnani. Colangelo easily moved bad contracts and then choked on Primo.

Sam Mitchell's lack of balls.

You'd never hear that BS excuse from a great coach.
