Not a big fan of Jennings...once teams adjusted to him after his rookie year he has not produced well and especially not efficiently.

I've voted "Other" to mean "Deron or CalDeron"

I think people undervalue Calderon a lot. If he leaves here, he will get a nice contract somewhere else.

I'd be more than happy with Lowry!

How old is he anyways?

Dragic.

Lowry would be best and help with DeRozan sucking at rebounding but he seems like a shitty locker room guy, last thing the raps need is one of their better players wanting out.

Don't get me wrong he'd be awesome to have but if we give up some of our bigger assets then he wants out.. there's some risk

mehh, we never heard of any problems from him in the past. so to say we likely don't know the whole story is an understatement.

If they would be willing to do like Bayless + Davis + 8th for Lowry and 16th or 14th pick I think that would be worth the risk.

I don't like that trade.

Bayless would be a sign and trade in that deal, so he wouldn't be worth much (anything), since he could just sign with the Rockets.

From the Raptors' perspective they're trading a PF/C with a high ceiling for an average PG with injury history that has probably already peaked and has only two years left on his deal, and on top of that they'd be trading down in the lottery, so they miss a chance at some very talented players at that spot (PJ3, Lamb, Sullinger, etc.).

So, it may help the Raptors short term (if they can ship out Calderon for something useful), but it really hurts the franchise in the long term.

Also, since the Raptors don't actually have the 8th pick yet (not until after Wednesday), it doesn't make sense to do any sort of trade at this point.

I don't know why you guys like Lowry so much. He's pretty good, but he'll probably never make an all star game. His defense isn't very good, he doesn't have great size and aside from shooting 3s he doesn't have great percentages. On top of all that he's an average playmaker.

Looking into my crystal ball I see the same people lobbying for Lowry will be calling him a chucker and trying to run him out of town about a month after he gets here. If he gets cold from 3 he's not a quality starting PG.

It looks to me like the two worst long term options are the most popular (Nash, Lowry).

Nash being one of the worst long term option is debatable. Yes, it's bad in the sense that he is near the end of his career and will probably only play 2, maybe 3 seasons, and we have no idea if he'll play at an elite level. And he won't grow with the team nor be around once JV is developed...etc...

On the other hand, Nash increases the profile of the franchise. The league might stop laughing for a couple of seasons. There is also the possibility that a couple of playoff appearances would increase the development of some of our younger players, and send them on a trajectory they otherwise would not be on. Also, Nash might inflate the stats of a couple of guys and increase their trade value. There could be some long term benefits.

I think it's debatable. Or maybe I'm just a Nash fan boy.

Wha?

I think you might have Lowry confused with someone else Eggs.... because Lowry's one of the best defenders in the league at his position. Has been for a few years now.

As for my opinions on who we should get.....

Nash if we're looking short term... Lin if we're looking long-term. Those would be my 2 top choices.

I would be very happy with Lowry too though.

Lin had a defensive rating this year of 101 (ranking #90 out of all 478 NBA players), and last year 103 (#58/452).

Lowry had a defensive rating this year of 104(#191/478), last year 110 (#315/478), and the year before 109 (#267/442). Previously Lowry has had poor/average defensive ratings also. This year was a career year for him defensively.

In steals per 36 minutes, Lowry is similarly much weaker than Lin.

I don't know where you guys are getting that Lowry is good defensively, because the numbers really don't back it up.

On the other hand, how do you think Lin has been able to get looks from NBA teams without being an especially good shooter, or really effective off the dribble? (Both areas saw huge improvements this year).

It's because he plays exceptional defense!

In fact, I'd argue that one of the reasons why the Knicks' winning streak happened was because teams were trying to go after Lin on defense. He's basically a rookie, but he's a strong defender for his position. So, opposing point guards were putting up good numbers, but they weren't doing it efficiently. Go through the Knicks' game logs for February, and you'll see that Lin made good scoring PGs work for their numbers, and weak scoring PGs he really shut down.

I don't think that Kyle Lowry will do well with the Raptors.

The way you guys are talking about him you'd think he was an all star.

He's barely average for his position, and will probably never be anything more than he already is.
