Default Take It For What Its Worth

This RealGM guy claims to have "sources" within the Raptors organization, so take this talk with a grain of salt.

Quote:
Hey guys, as some of you know I'm pretty close to someone that works in the Raptors organization and he was able to tell me some inside information. First let me start off about the wing situation, according to my source, The Raptors were close in a deal that would of sent gerald wallace our ways and Kapono and hump going to charlotte(about 2 weeks ago), bobcats were seriously considering pulling the trigger but then came up with a counter offer including Bargnani, BC immediately shut down their offer. Also, (many fans wont like to hear this, including myself) BC may have some interest in Marbury if he is waived, possibly puttin him alongside of Calderon playing the 2. Moving on to Smitch... I know many of you were probably wondering what the meeting between BC and Smitch was all about, I really wish I could tell you but my source begged me not to leak info. but a clue wont hurt right?.... All i have to say is pay real close attention to the up coming games, especially tomorrows game. I will try my best to update you guys as much as I can!!

Hmm.

If his source begged him not to leak info, why did he leak all the other info?

sources usually have reasons to release some but not all of their information. i suspect this source was trying to make points with someone and let a bit out. Marbury has been brought up by pretty much most of the teams in the league since the day he was sat, so that one is not a big "leak". Gerald Wallace for Kaps and Hump would be sweet, but BC won't give up AB as he is not going to give up on his ONLY #1 pick yet so any talk with AB on the table will be stopped. Wallace was discussed on other boards as having offers made by several teams including the Raptors a couple of weeks ago so that is not a real "leak" either. and ANY Raptors fan will be watching every move smitch makes until he dies, so that is not really a "leak" either. what's the weather like? that would be "news" in most parts of raptor land right now.

I call bullshit. I don't see why the Bobcats would do a Kapono and Humphries for Wallace trade. Makes no sense from their standpoint. And it would have left the Raptors at 11 players.

The Marbury thing makes sense - but that's common knowledge. Problem is, Marbury couldn't guard a lick - but he'd be filling it up at the 2 and wouldn't have to worry about the responsibility of being the floor general.

Meh...wont take it that serious. Pay real close attention to next game? What are we going to see? Kapono in the starting lineup?

Brags/Kapono or someone not playing because of trade rumors? Its realy vague

this is BULLshit for sure. cmon, bc has more common sense than to fire a guy based on a single game. bc is all about the big picture, not this or that game. so first thing's first, mitchell is staying for a while. second of all, no moron would leak information like that from the organization. and the cherry on the cake, why would charlotte want kapono and hump, when they're trying to unload shooters like caroll, not pick up more shooters. they could get kaman, and would go for kapono instead. so in conclusion, this "source" is wayy off.
rant over

Calderon and Marbury @ 1&2 would be a disaster on defense ...

The Bobcats are clearly trying to cormer the market on slow-footed sharp shooters.

They'd have Morrison , Carroll, Kapono...maybe the can get Korver from Utah too.

You know for as much of a meat-heat Marbury is...i would give him a try for the simple fact he can get to the rim and get us easy points. The guy can still play and I dont' see Bosh Oneal and Mitchell letting him ruin the chemistry of the room. At this point i'd go for it for the minimum. Things can't get much worse can theY?

I agree SWAN, it can't get much worse until (dare i say it) the injury bug runs through the team, then we are in huge trouble!

Smith said the coaches were drawing up plays and Kapono was watching closely.

Watching next game means that Kaps is finally gonna have some plays run for him.

Probably be moving to the basket though instead of at the 3.

well, if he moves to the basket it won't help much as i can outrun him and could guard him and i am 46! Jason needs to take shats to help this team. the problem we have had is we have run up leads and then we get away from what has got us the lead and open the floodgates from the wing, then Jamario feels the desperation from the bench to perform and goes nuts jacking the ball up and JK decides he is Hedo and tries to pump fake and gets a turnover. Shoot the Ball!! we need him hitting the long ball not trying to be Larry Bird out there!! we don't him beating his man, we need shats! period. maybe jason was explaining to sam that he is healthy and it is JO and JC who are hurt not JK or JM, so many J names it really is hard for smitch to keep track. :-)

i took that whole 'watch the next game closely' remark as - Smitch has probably 1 week to show his worth to this club, and it starts with the bobcat game.
i'm guessing BC and smitch had a nice sit down, no holds barred, where they talked and got things off their chest.
i'm sure BC's point was to let smitch know that he isnt happy with the current happenings (although he likes him as a coach and a person), its business and he can't afford to just field a .500 team. changes must be done, and since they've already made roster changes (bringing in JO), now the only thing left is a coaching change.
i bet he's giving smitch a week to prove he deserves this position, otherwise its the axe.

I had a buddy that was a manager inside the ACC in a department. He would drop "insider tips" once in a while he thought were truths . (he wasnt one to make up stuff). Almost all of them didnt happen.

It's part of the game to "leak" stuff.

I wouldn't be surprised if this were the case...and the next stretch of games are going to be TOUGH - Atlanta, @Lakers, @Nuggets, @Jazz, then home for Portland next Sunday and @ Cleveland Tuesday..

This doesn't look good.

I have sources that say Clyde drexler, Michael jordan &/or dominique wilkins are keeping a close eye on the lack of depth at our 2 & 3 positions and are considering coming out of retirement to fill those voids. I cannot confirm or deny these rumors, but I can say that they were acquired through the use of a glass press up against the outside of one Mr. Brian Colangelo's door

Also, Wayne Gretzky coming to the leafs is just a rumor. The confusion arose as a result of a miscommunication during a game of broken telephone

Guy was problably better off shutting his mouth. Truth is I hear all kinds of stuff from people linked closely to the Raptors situation. However; stuff they tell you is alot of talk and basically its difficult to sift through what is serious and what is not as much. GMs talk every friggin day and leave no stone unturned before any deal is made so thats as far as you can go when you hear things like this.
