Dwyane Wade, captain of East All-Stars for Saturday night, indicated that Knicks guard James (@Flight8) White will be in the dunk contest.
As much as I like T-Ross there's no way he tops James "Flight" White.

I don't like it anymore, it was so much cooler when I was young.

It was never rigged...until MJ came along. Then the rigging started, he was a gatorade guy so they gave it to him over Nique when nique was the man...then Spud over nique, because thy were in Dallas and Spud was a hometown guy doing dunks I could do in grade 12. The complete Jumping of the Shark happened with Blake Griffin. Our own guy got the hosing on that one.

James White does a between the legs dunk from the free throw - YouTube
James White needs to be in the contest, he was born to be in it
all he has to do is his FT line between the legs and the contest should be shut down

i don't know ross in it not because he won't be able to beat White, but because the NBA contest is a joke and i don't want him to be a part of that, if demar has anything to say about it he should really advise ross to stay away

if the contest is anything like the last 2 or 3 years, its a popularity contest and if its like last year its just a pre-rigged show

props are wack. there's no creativity jumping over things, it's not an athleticism contest.

Following the footsteps of a NBA Live dunk contest LOl. I think one of the worst dunk contests ever were when Blake Griffin did it. Each contestant had a story/props and it was a no brainer that Griffin was going to win

If its gonna be like recent years and have Blake jumping over the front hood of a car, or the mother of that brain dead Javalee Mcgee singing I'm not interested, and its' complete bullshit. Ross should just pass.

I'd be thrilled to read:

" I have decided to turn down the offer to participate in the dunk contest. while I am very appreciative of the offer, I have to use this time to rest, work with my coaches and re-focus for the home stretch in Toronto"
Terrence Ross

would be even better if he added that he appreciates the offer and the NBA's notice of his highflying abilities, but that he is turning down the offer because the contest is a joke and will not participate to make himself the punching bag when another more popular player gets the title handed to him

Just saying lol, i mean we don't know what kind of dunks he can do or how creative he can be. But a simple windmill would look better than some of the recent dunks we've seen for the past years

i disagree with that, at least half of the dunks in the recent contests have been pretty good, its just that the stupid props and storyline along with the actual rigged part of the contest took away from a lot of these dunks, a lot of those dunks should've gotten like 8s or 9s
a simple windmill shouldn't get you more than a 7

In his new role of captain of the Eastern Conference for All-Star Saturday, Dwyane Wade is applying some peer pressure to Miami Heat teammate LeBron James to take part.

Wade, who has input on whom the NBA selects to take part in the popular events, tried to get James to re-consider his long-standing policy of saying no to the slam dunk contest, which will take place Feb. 16.

"I tried to convince LeBron," Wade said Friday before the Heat took on the Indiana Pacers.

"On the dunk contest?" James said when Wade asked him. "Oh no, that's out."

"I told him I'd throw him a lob and we'll win," Wade said. "He turned me down; I think he got nervous."
