i wonder if willie green thought he was being an idiot too, looks like the guy didn't want to be a part of the "mockery"
its kind of disrespectful to the person singing too

Who gives a fuck if he "mocked" it, the real question is why any of you care... its not a big deal.

He's lucky Canadians aren't as stuck up as Americans when it comes to there country, for the most part. If an international player did that with the American anthem, they would get shot.

i dont lack any confindence in our country, you may but dont put me in the same boat.

In my part of the country no ones gives a rats fuck about McGrady acting immature or what anyone else in the world thinks. We are More concerned about failing education, healthcare system, crumbling economy and things of that nature.

Not about some overpaid, useless athlete who is there only to entertain us.

He's setting a good example for the kids, nobody in the stands sings the anthem anymore but we should.

That said Tmac is wiggidywac.

Please, most of this country has a confidence issue when it comes to how we're viewed around the world along with being worried about the above mentioned issues. Besides, considering what's going on in the world we're doing ok in most of those issues you mentioned.

I could see how people are upset about how Tmac acted during the national athem. However for myself I really am abvious towards it. National athems shouldn't be played during sporting events IMHO.

I don't find it he's "mocking" like the announcer (was it Devlin?) suggested. I give him props for knowing the words!

well put. although i would say the need for validation is pretty exclusively connected to the U.S. and we see it so much because of the sad position this team finds itself within the league.

i don't think it was mocking, you can see his actions but you don't know him personally so you can't really judge him to be mocking during the national anthem. like stated earlier, i believe he was singing because he knew the national anthem, especially as he was a raptor before. he was just fooling around with a teamate, he was not taking a shot at canada.

but besides the speculation, i don't think it was the smartest thing to do... otherwise speculation would come up like this forum.

Dumb move, not thinking of the repercussions it would have, typical t-mac. or better yet typical NBA player. Face it, they're not the smartest folk in the world, and sometimes act like their five. I don't take offence to it, but he should've seen that it would have pissed off a whole lot of people, which it did. w/e, at least he didn't do it while still playing for the raps

fooling around with a teammate and singing along to an anthem like a goof is mocking. no two ways around it.

He could have, as mentioned before by others, been mocking the singer. Every anthem has an over the top singer, for good reason, but they do. Some people find it classy and are proud to hear it, others, not so much.

nice so he's mocking someone singing the national anthem as opposed the national anthem. kind of the same thing no?

Pretty much. lol

Either way, he's mocking something or someone. Something a child would do.
