Canada is a great country and the spirit and passion of the people will always be in my heart and soul as I too am a Canadian citizen and will be proud to promote and carry the torch of Canada throughout the globe. Toronto is a world class city with world class people. Not hype -- just fact. My 10 years of calling Toronto Raptors play-by-play has been the highlight of my career and I appreciate the relationship I developed with fans of the sport. I never took them or the position I held for granted. The Raptors franchise is outstanding and the men and women of MLSE are simply incredible people to work with as they are at the Fan 590 where I hosted a mid day show. Thank you.

Thanks for everything Chuck! Good luck and all the best!

It's going to be weird without Chuck next season. I'll still be reading his blog on Bulls.com though. I'm going to miss Chuck's passion for the game and his passion for this country.

Au revoir mon ami!!

Chuck is a good person, over the years I have had small things I have not liked with him as a broadcaster but as a person he is first rate. In the end that is what should matter most.

Not if he is a broadcaster.

If I have to listen to someone 82+ times each season and his ultrahomerism and uberenthusiasm annoy the living hell out of me, I don't care if he is a good person or not - I cheer his departure.

ClingRap 07-30-2008 02:44 PM

I dont get the Swirsk hate, sure he was a bit jeuvenile but he definately bled Raptors and what more could a new team in a foreign country ask for. His time had wore out but he was far from the worst out there.

LX 07-30-2008 03:46 PM

I simply found him repetitive over the last couple of seasons, and actually got pretty good at tuning him out completely. He was hardly as much of a homer as some guys I've heard. To me he just relied on the same old schtick too much, and became a bit of a caricature of himself in the end. Dropping all of the Chuckisms in Chicago is a good move on his part. They served a good purpose here to start with, but that purpose was no longer all that necessary.

My biggest concern is what happens on the FAN. Please no puckheads. No matter what anyone thinks of Chuck, at least he made it through the summer, and much of the winter for that matter, without resorting to wall-to-wall pucktalk. Without that kind of respite there, I don't think I'll be hitting that part of the dial much.

Acie 07-30-2008 03:53 PM

For me it wasn't that he was a homer, it was his obsession with other teams players that I found annoying.

How many times do I need to hear him talk about Dwight Howards "moist, dark and rippling chocolaty deltoids."

Or Battier being Mr. President.
