Default Superstar treatment?

Quote:
Orlando Magic Coach Stan Van Gundy says he and superstar Dwight Howard have "a little bit of conflict" and it finally manifested itself into Van Gundy's benching and postgame blasting of his all-star center on Monday night.
"That's going to be between Dwight and I, but his focus isn't where it needs to be," Van Gundy said. "I don't think right now we're on the same page, to be quite honest."
When was the last time you heard our coaching stuff questioning Chris Bosh? Why was van Gundy furious?

Quote:
After the Magic's third loss in the past five games, Van Gundy tore into Howard's motivation verbally. He was furious that Howard, the NBA's leading rebounder and fourth-leading shock-blocker, managed just nine boards and no swats

Let's get them Bosh for Howard rumours started.

Anyhow, good for Van Gundy albeit he might of overreacted slightly. I'm tired of the "franchise players" that feel they should constantly get preferential treatment over their peers.

How does a Howard and Van Gundy conflict turn into, "when's the last time Bosh was called out by the coaching staff?"

Who cares ... didn't ya hear about the latest insider news that the Magic have contacted BC about a possible one-for-one swap of Bosh for D12?

You heard it here first. :cheeky-smiley-013:

Mitchell doesnt have the cojones to bench or call out Bosh for poor play, if he did he would have done so after the Clipper game.

In regards to Dwight though(from what I gathered from Magic fan), he started the game with like 9 points in 6 minutes then touched the ball maybe 3 times the rest of the game. He, like 99% of anyone playing basketball, didnt play as hard defensively because his teammates were ignoring him and therein lies the problem. Dwight thinks he should get the ball more and Van Gundy wants him to play defence first. Both are right in a sense, but Dwight should be getting a touch everytime down. Hes completely unstoppable yet they ignore him and jack up 3's every possession. They need a player like Mike Miller who is smart and a good passer and will get him the ball a lot more than the chucker Mo Evans, Turkoglu or Lewis will. They should be running their offence like SA does through Duncan yet dont. SVG has done a great job with ORL this year but thats one area wheres hes gone wrong. He should pound the idea of getting him the ball everytime down in his guards heads or theyll be benched.

Theyre both right but Van Gundys more in the wrong for the betterment of the team.

Mitchell doesn't have the cajones? No, Mitchell doesn't air the Raps dirty laundry in the media.

Then there are some serious maturity issues if that's the way D12 is going to handle situations. "They aren't going to feed me the ball, so I'll dog it on defense". What, are you 12 years old?

I don't necessarily think if your a coach that calling out players is the best thing to do for morale, but in situations like this Stan absolutely did the right thing.

Thank you! There's not a player on the roster Sam is harder on that CB4 because he knows Chris will man up and take it and use it to work harder. I totally agree he doesn't use the media to air his dirty laundry..he hates the media and doens't give them anything.

I dont think its a question of dogging it, its more of a question of him not playing up to his capabilities on defence.

If youve played bball before you know how deflating and how it sucks to play on a team with a bunch of ballhogs who never pass you the ball. When youre playing on these teams and never get the ball, can you honestly say youre giving it your all on the other side of the ball? It's hard to. It's deflating when you play with a bunch of retards and never touch the ball.

Shaq did the same thing a couple times in his career. You gotta keep your horse happy. I dont know why they dont go into him everytime down, its beyond stupid. No one can guard the guy and instead he gets 11 shots in a game where he should have had 20.

Do I need to say it again - me the one with no opinions to speak of? Dwight Howard has no freakin heart. Until he shows me some of that, then I actually do like Bosh better, although I will agree that he lapsed bigtime against the Clips - but he's shown that he knows that he lapsed. Dwight just keeps on laffin.

OK THrills - why are you sounding so much like Leo? And I say that Rasho can guard him for one. And he never demands the ball much that I've seen, so why does he get so frustrated? And if he's so frustrated and deflated, why all the smiles?

point is - chris has quite a few games this season when he didn't come to play. It's very easy to see it, he settles for jumpers, doesn't rebound well, doesn't pass the ball. Last game vs SA was a good example - and I want to see him getting punished for it. I remembered that game in Cleveland where Sam kept him on the bench the final quarter - that's what we need to see more. I'm sure CB would handle it well, he seems a classy guy - but he needs to be made aware that we can't afford him taking too many off nights, especially until Bargnani gets to the point where he can provide defensive help (since right now he can barely defend his own position).

Bosh was gimpy all night Monday and I applaud his efforts to play hurt. Yeah he had no lift on his jumper and it caused him to hesitate in the post, but San Antonio is also one of the smartest defensive teams in the league. Of course the fans who think he can never seem to do anything right will say, "well if he's hurt that bad he shouldn't be playing" and then criticize him for being soft, probably the same people who criticized the last franchise paler for not playing hurt. That's it, maybe Bosh should lie on the floor and act like he got shot instead of continuing to hobble around and play until the next whistle.

Bullocks.....

He hurt the team out there, but I think it has more to do with Oberto playing him better than I have seen anyone else defend him.

It is has been an ongoing thing that Bosh hasnt showed up for the big games...at least VC did that.

Yeah, Howard only had a 20+20 vs him, no?. Rasho defended him well one game and youre acting like hes the Howard stopper, haha.

Quote:

They run the same 2 plays almost everytime, and the ball almost always ends up in the corner guys hands who always has a decent look at the basket because Dwights downlow after he sets a pick, pinning his guy for the postup, so instead of passing it in quickly they always take a semi open 20 footer instead of getting a 4 foot hook shot and a happy bigman. He works for his position every possession but their team is too 3 pt oriented and forgets about him way too often.

Quote:

Dwights the kind of dude thats always happy and never swears, so what? He rarely is chuckling it up Carter style or in game during a play.
