They have 41 road games, plus pre-season and playoffs. They have to cross the border for each of those. But it really is pretty minor. Hell - the last time I went through immigration it took no time at all. And these guys have people taking care of all the documentation and fast-tracking them through.

actually no, because most road games are done in longer trips, the west coast is done in 3 or 4 trips usually.

oh - good point. Talk about not thinking things through. It's like I never experienced viewing an entire NBA season. I hate summer.

still, I've only counted every trip once - at some point he's got to return ... But regardless, I'm pretty sure it's not like the entire team waits for Bosh to complete his passport control, I don't have a canadian citizenship and it still takes me less 2 minutes to go through passport control ...

I think the only reason (other than pure ignorance) that some people have second thoughts about coming to play here is the weather. Florida, Texas California and Arizona are a lot nicer in the winter - but even that can't be that much of a pain.

if we make it to the nba finals or go deep in the playoffs, players will notice and all that some players want is a ring

Alot of good points made in this thread, but i'd just like to add one thing many are saying that simply doesnt ring true to me, along the lines of "Only T-Mac, VC and Alonzo wanted to/demanded or for w/e reason left". This is true, but what is also true is all 3 are "Franchise" players or close to that in Zo's case earlier in his career. Most roll players will play anywhere, they are happy to be in the league and want a decent payday, but roll players are nothing with out the 2 superstars on a team, and from what ive seen you need at least 2 to win a championship. So my point is really this, we couldnt keep 2 "franchise" players here in the past, pretty much the only 2 we ever had besides Bosh who is yet to be determined if he will stay (i think he will). Attracting superstars is a total nessicity to win a championship, unless you can draft them, which is easier said then done.

Again, just my thoughts, i really hope im wrong and more superstar calibre FA's look north in the future

Oh and BTW DR, i wasnt referring to Toronto fans booing players, i just mean the citys fans seem to get really high on teams and then if they lose a couple say "oh we suck" etc etc, ive seen it live at games and read it on other forums to consider it a trend.

IMO all of this crap is less and less a factor because BC has turned the perception around when it comes to Toronto being a respected franchise. And i think if all goes well this season and players see O'Neal/Bosh/Calderon combination and Bargnani's progress, the bigger name players will start to think that they could be one of the missing pieces to going deep in the playoffs and having a chance at a ring in a building that sells out 95% of it's games.

I think he's saying that there are some players that follow the money before the Championship. To some players the Championship is more important.

I agree that the timing with acquiring O'Neal in that respect is great. First he's positive about the move. Now if he can allow the team to advance, then come 2010, one of those free agents, and there could be a ton of them, could really put us over the top. If JO goes then we go for one of the bigtime players, if he stays with a smaller contract, and Bosh accepts not eating up all the cap space in order to get one more guy, or if MLSE can live with SOME tax for one or two years, then the timing will be perfect. A lot of ifs, but they are all smaller ifs then they were a few weeks ago. And then there's also the question of getting a cheap vet, maybe Nash - another FA in 2010 who definitely would be tempted to play for a winning Canadian team on the cheap. The possibilities are definitely starting to open up here much more than say Miami, who really should just be ecstatic that they shed themselves of Shaq's contract.

Miami media knows that they are gonna suck again next year; he is trying to be optimistic but it isn't working with his uneducated mind.

Sure they'll suck ago even with little-boy Beasley. But I'd like to see what happens in the 09/10 season when they'll get another top 5 pick.

But w/e they still suck.
