Sun Sentinel: Heat ready to give up on Bosh

Quote:
As Heat President Pat Riley spoke Thursday about Amare Stoudemire without mentioning Stoudemire by name, as he spoke about attacking “the opportunity of going after who we considered the most talented player that was out there,” it was as if there was a revelation.

Would Riley have spoken that way about Stoudemire and the pursuit of the Suns forward at the trading deadline if he had any inside knowledge that Chris Bosh was poised to join Dwyane Wade in South Florida next season?
Quote:
For months, with Wade and Bosh represented by the same agent, there was thought that Riley must know something through his conversations with Henry Thomas, must have an inkling about Bosh’s free-agent intentions.

Yet if Riley knew that South Florida was a preferred landing spot for Bosh alongside Wade, with the Heat hoarding cap space for just such an eventuality, would he have entered into such a public pursuit of Stoudemire?
Quote:
On the other hand, if Riley knew — or knows — that Bosh isn’t coming, then there is plenty to be said about a very public courtship of arguably the next-best big man who could be available in the offseason

“The player that we went after,” Riley said, “we went after very hard.”

That player was Stoudemire.

And Riley did it because he knew something about Bosh

Apparently Wade was around Bosh during the All-Star weekend try to "recruit" him. Maybe Bosh told him to go fly a kite!

Yup, no drama here like there is down there.

Whatever Bosh ends up doing, he's a class act.

+1

IMO all three (Bosh/Wade/Lebron) have done a great job in dealing with all of it.

I like Bosh, and how he's handled all the shit that's been thrown at him this year has made me respect him even more. I like that if he leaves it won't be in vein, and he'll be remembered here accordingly.

Bosh has done a great job regarding this offseason ... Very Classy!

Lebron has done a decent job aswell, but Wade... well not so much...

I've read a few articles where he was quoted and sounded frustrated....

And can you blame him? Toronto has made moves pre season to surround Bosh (9 new players) with a better Roster... Cleveland has done the same + the trade deadline deal for Jaimison...

Miami? ... Hasen't done shit

Right now LBJ and Bosh are happy with there teams i feel... Wade... doesn't seem like it...

If Heat fans dont realize that Wade is most likely to bolt outta the "Big 3" there fucking in dreamland...

I think you can make the same case for Bosh not making his mind yet
if Riley knows Bosh will stay in to, he would have traded for Amare

In any case, based on everything that's been said lately, the biggest danger for us is Chicago. The only advantages we have over them are the money we can offer and the loyalty Bosh clearly has for this city. Beyond that, chicago would give Bosh a better team+the chance of being #1. Rose is a better player than Andrea, and deng + Noah are far better than our 3rd and 4th best players. And chicago is a better market.

If we don't perform well over the next 3 months, Chicago will become a major competitor for bosh. Njn is also dangerous, if they get wall, they'd have a better supporting cast too.

Toronto:

You are the #1 option
You are marketed to an entire country of 30 million-ish

Miami:

You are the #2 option
You are marketable in South Florida, maybe a little in the Southeast US generally, lets say 10-15 million people.
You are the Pippen to Wade's Jordan, in the shadow.

From a basketball point of view, business point of view, Toronto seems like the better choice to me if Bosh wants to be a superstar, and I hate Toronto, I'm from Winnipeg

All he has to do is look at Vince Carter. How many Vince Net jerseys do you see around? I go to Minneapolis 2-3 times a year. Back in the day when Vince was dunking in TO, his jerseys were everywhere. I have yet to see a Vince Net jersey or Magic jersey. His peak in terms of being a marketable guy was with the Raptors, even in the US.

No way is Chicago a better market or a better team and Nets; are you on crack?

They must worry about Wade staying after failing to improve the team.

Can the Raptors actually afford Wade? Two max players? Can they work out something financially to trade for him?

Let's just hope nobody comes in looking to poach Rasho with a max deal this summer... let Bosh walk, Rasho is the real deal!
