Heat Sun-Sentinel: Bosh for Beasley?

It was, to say the least, a proactive move last week by Raptors General Manager Bryant Colangelo, floating the notion that he planned to offer an extension this summer to prized power forward Chris Bosh.

Of course, with the Raptors coming off a dreadful 33-49 season, there is no way Bosh takes him up on the offer. Colangelo assuredly knows that. But he also knows it then would come off as Bosh leaving him no choice but to pursue trade talks in advance of Bosh's 2010 opt out.

The Heat, of course, covets Bosh as a 2010 free agent, the ultimate pairing with Dwyane Wade, who just happens to share the same agent as Bosh.

With Bosh on the trade market, 2010 could become 2009 for Pat Riley. And then, all of a sudden, would anyone dare complain if Riley offers Michael Beasley (and necessary cap filler, say Mark Blount) in return?

Colangelo, who fancies Beasley as a small forward, not only would then be able to save face with the loss of Bosh, he also would gain a player whose rights he could control for three more seasons without the threat of also heading south of the border.

Yes, there would be issues with a Jermaine O'Neal reunion for Bosh. And it still doesn't solve the Udonis Haslem redundancy. But it would allow Riley to fast track, perhaps even open the door for Wade and an acquired Bosh to sign dual extensions this summer.

Maybe Bosh will go there and Wade will go somewhere else like the Elton Brand / Baron Davis fiasco .

But to that article... no chance. They should give us Beasley/Cook/First round picks for the next 3 years for .. Bosh/Banks/Kapono .. then i'd do it.

I don't want Cook. That guy is way too inconsistent.

If Beasley comes to TO in exchange for Bosh, count me out as a Raptors fan

I think Beasley would look good in a Raptors uniform, but it's not worth trading Chris straight up. If Haslem were thrown in there I'd have no trouble making that deal.

i think collangelo would be wary of creating a decade-long eastern powerhouse.

but just for fun... bosh+kapono+banks for JO+beasley+picks

it'd clear one heck of a load of capspace for next summer.

anyway... the article says that bc, like a lot of others, foresees beasley as a 3. the heat — the team that knows him best — see his best future at the four. that's why they ditched marion: he's also best at pf (like haslem, too).

beasley worries me as a guy who will have a career with good numbers, but hollow stats. but, i guess, just because beasley comes in, doesn't mean he can't be moved on somewhere else.

No chance I'd even consider that deal. It doesn't address the teams needs at all.
Beasley is lazy, plays no D and is a 4. We've got too many damn 4's as it is.
If Bosh is moved it should, preferably, be to a team out west where he stands less of a chance of "Vincing" the shit out of us 4-6 times a year.

Beasley sat games in favor of Moon.

No thanks.

Fucking tampering, 100% funded by the Heat.

Reeks of wishful thinking. If Riley pulls that off then BC needs to get fired.

Sure, why don't we just throw five power forwards (with no power) out on the floor together?
Conventional basketball be damned.
Who needs a point guard anyway? They're so over-rated with all their stupid dribbling and passing.

exactly at 6-7 ill try playing him at the SF even though PF is his natural position
just like how Bargnani started his NBA career at the SF and now is playing C because of his size
its all about players being able to adapt to the positions.
If beasley can handle the ball then he wont have to much of a problem playing SF

Eew, no thanks. Frankly I'd rather have Anthony Randolph for Bosh.
