Which Chicago team? This year's Bulls team?

I think the Bulls overachieved this year, thanks to Thibodeau's coaching and Rose's MVP season. However, the supporting cast isn't that great outside of Deng, Noah, and Boozer - although the latter underperformed this year and was horrible against the Heat.

I think the Mavs are a much different team than the Bulls because their dominant player doesn't need the ball at all times. The Mavs' supporting cast is also much better and deeper than Chicago's. Having a PG like Kidd, who can facilitate and create easy shots for his teammates, is also a huge difference.

But I don't know why we're talking about the Mavs and Bulls. My point in my previous post was that the Raptors will need to emulate the Pistons of the early 2000s in order to become a competitive team - that is a team filled with very good players but not a single dominant player. Or in other words, a classic example of the sum being greater than its individual parts.

i think that's the blueprint that a lot of Raptor fans have been hoping for for a long time. I know i have alluded to it in the past and have been doing it for years. So many challenges with assembling a team like that though. contracts have to be reasonable... and also (and perhaps i am off with this), it should really be a veteran heavy team in terms of the core however in a team set up like that the core of the team IS like 5-7 players strong. Although who knows. With the young guys we have now.... maybe they can develop into something similar in a few years.

Love to see Rudy on this team, but watching that last series, it's the Bulls that need Rudy Gay.

Whether it involves a third team to get it done, that's exactly the type of player they need. If it took moving Noah and filler, they should cut that deal.

I've stopped entertaining thoughts of a Toronto deal right now because Colangelo still seems like he wants to bring Bargnani back.

That would be bad, at most he should give Bargs until the trade deadline next year. I hope he can be moved this year for something good

Default 9 Player Trade RUMOR (TOR,IND,MEM)

Quote:
Three Team 9 Player Trade Rumor (TOR,IND,MEM)

The trade breaks down as follows;

To Indiana we would see OJ Mayo from Memphis, a player the Pacers have previously tried to trade for during the trade deadline as well as Xavier Henry the 12th pick of the 2010 draft. The Toronto Raptors would send Jose Manuel Calderon giving the pacers a veteran point guard who could again replace the departed TJ Ford.

The Memphis Grizzlies would receive Andrea Bargnani. Recently Bargnani stated on Italian broadcast of the playoffs his displeasure with how Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo ousted him out in his exit interview at the end of the season. The Grizz would also get Leandrinho Barbosa from the Raptors, along with the 10th overall pick of the 2010 draft; Paul George.

The Raptors would welcome a very much needed Rudy Gay, as well as James Posey and Dahntay Jones from Indiana. Rudy Gay would fit in perfect with this young, exciting, athletic core group of guys like J.Bayless, D.Derozan, J. Johnson, A. Johnson and E. Davis. Posey and Jones would be trade fillers with some possible up-side in Jones who was mainly signed to his current contract because of his defense which Toronto could use.

Trade rumor recap:

Trade to Memphis

Andrea Bargnani, Leandrinho Barbosa, , Paul George

Trade to Indiana

OJ Mayo, Xavier Henry, Jose Calderon

Trade to Toronto

Rudy Gay, James Posey, Dahntay Jones

I think this was created by a fan. No major news outlet is reported this rumor.

Didn't someone post this exact trade a few days ago?

Yeah no major sports website has this rumor. If this goes down then it leaves only the 1 and 5 to upgrade. But now we have kleiza, JJ, and gay at the 3

+1 agree.
I think Gay is a great player but he comes with a hefty contract. The Pacers win this one, no doubt.

So Memphis gave Zach Randolph 70 million only to eventually trade Rudy Gay for a shaky 7 footer who might completely disappear playing 15 minutes a game behind Gasol & Randolph?

No chance.

Rudy Gay and OJ Mayo for Bargs, Leandro and George?

Basically the Pacers get Mayo, Henry and Calderon for Paul George, James Posey and Donte Jones?? WTF? thats an amazing deal for them...

AND There is NO way we do this deal if we have to throw in any of our picks. Jose being shipped out means were taking Walker or Knight.
